I'm glad your issues are solved. In using the 93 do you notice any better audio or video quality with the 103?

My 8801 suddenly stopped triggering my amp ( Parasound Halo A 51) to turn on/off. (Yes, the cable is firmly plugged in on both ends and the switch on the amp is still in the proper position.) Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a quick fix? Thanks.

I would even pay a nominal upgrade fee for that........

I think Rich had the same problem with his triggers and had to send it in for repairs if I remember correctly.
I hope its not a new trend.

Is there a way to display what the video input of the signal coming in is (1080i, 480P)?
Also if you want the 8801 not to process the video at all and just let it pass thru is turning of the scaler in video settings all that is needed?
Thanks

I had Trigger 1 deliver low voltage. 9 volts instead of 12.
I sent it in and they replaced some parts.

Since then, I have added a 120 MM fan.

There you go rich, your like Johnny on the spot!
What did the low voltage issue cause?

I assume not enough power to turn on or off the amps.

Trigger 1 would not turn on my amp.
They replaced the plug, a transistor, and some other parts.
Not much information is provided about the repairs.

Did yours ever work? Mine has been fine for the past few months that I've owned it until last night when it suddenly quit working.

That is how 9/10 guys on here are stating volume levels and is a good way to know how you are listening compared to others. The absolute scale is just what comes stock on the 8801. Once changed, setting the receiver at 0.0 would be "around" reference level. I have gotten in many a tiff with folks on here defining what "reference" is but as a general understanding, reference for movie watching is an average of around 85dB with 105dB peaks from your speakers, and 115dB peaks from your subs. Running Audyssey on the 8801 and then putting the unit at 0.0 usually equals this exact scenario, thus "reference" as most people understand it.

Ok, so now I am totally confused. I have 2 options only.

From 0 - 98, and -78.5 to -18.5.

What the heck, should it not be -78.5 to 0.0?

And if so, what is happening here?

The first is 0-98 otherwise known as the "absolute" scale for those that simply want to see the volume number get higher as the volume level gets louder and see the volume number go lower as the volume level goes lower, while the "relative" scale is in "db" and relative to "reference" level or "0db" which goes from -78.5db to 0db and then increases to +18.5db.

1. Information - Video (p. 148 OM)
2. Yes, set the "i/p Scaler" to OFF.

Look again and I think you will see that it is +18 not -18, so -78.5 to 18. In this case 0 on the master volume control will be for all practical purposes be called reference level. This is assuming you have calibrated the system.

Yes, but what I didn't understand (at first) is that you need to have the source already selected that you want to affect.
As each source can be tailored independently, and that's how its done (the manual isn't clear on this point I thought, or maybe I'm just a bit thick?).
So select 'Blu-ray' (or whatever) and then make your adjustments for that source.
Then if you want to affect other sources, select those in turn, and make setting adjustments for each of those, and so on...

Noticed the 8801 has Spotify & Pandora streaming, anyone know if Rhapsody will be added? Also is the HD radio a DAB/DAB+?

Did you hit the remote on accident or is it a gremlin!

Although a feature of earlier D&M models, Rhapsody was removed beginning with the 2012 models last year to include the 8801. AFAIK, the HD radio is not DAB compatible due to each using different frequency bands.

Kids with iPhones or iPads in the house perhaps?

Was it a licensing issue? Suppose I can use Airplay or switch to Spotify. Dab+ is allusive, keep missing out with car now with the processor.

I know this isn't the best area to ask but considering it is still in the end an 8801 issue, does anyone know if Android platform has developed an app that effectively mirrors what the Apple "remote" app does to control my Itunes library. It would have to be virtually identical to the Remote app with all the same functionality. Just wondering if one of you gents might know biggrin.gif

Thats what my problem was! I turn "ip scaler" to off only to find it on again. The reason it was a different source. No it makes sense.

Thanks!

Can you use a 3.5mm stereo mini cable as a trigger cable for the AV8801? One of my components requires a stereo cable, but the Marantz manual states that a mono cable should be used.

I'm currently using a mono cable, but yesterday in the middle of a television program, the component connected to the Marantz trigger shutoff. I thought switching to a stereo mini might help.

Thanks

Stick with a mono-cable.
Try using Trigger 2 from the AV8801.
If that works, one of your triggers went down and you should contact Marantz support.
