Oppo BDP-93 and media server

Since most of my blu ray collection is stored in either mkv/m2ts formats, is the BDP-93 a reliable consideration for connection to a media server? I would love to have the Oppo playback quality directly off a server. Any guys running such a configuration?

You need DLNA server software runnIng on your computer. Oppo works very well with it. No issues with MKV files so far.

Hi,

There are various DLNA servers available and I'd like to mention one of them - KooRaRoo Media (http://www.kooraroo.com). Sorry to hijack the thread, but I've been curious about this solution as well.

I have no problem with the thought of converting all my blu-ray rips to MKVs for a player like the OPPOs, but my only concern is HD audio.

Can the OPPO play a MKV file with HD audio and bitstream or decode the audio without downsampling?

PC. Btw, for me...HD Audio is NOT a concern. I'm MORE then fine with DTS and DD.

Yes you can stream both Music and Video media from a Windows 7.0 PC. Once you setup your network on the Oppo bdp-93 and then setup a home group on your media PC, it works fine. I would recommend a hardwired network connection as opposed to wireless, some video requires the additional bandwidth. Cheers
