Need new receiver advice sub $1000

I have Definitive Technology Pro cinema 100 5.1 speakers in my bedroom. Right now I have a Marantz SR7001 that I had repair due to protect mode issues. The receiver works now but I don't want to chance future repairs. Can anyone recommend a good receiver to replace it with for under $1000. If there is something that can do the job way cheaper I am cool with that. It's a 5.1 setup with old satellite speakers. It's not like the receiver will need to run my Paradigm reference speakers I have in my living room. I have an HTPC and a PS3 hooked to the receiver via HDMI. I would love to have something that can handle all the latest technology. Thanks for any advice.

I am running 3 Definitive CLR2002 and 2 BP1.2 with a Yammie 867 in my basement. Granted, I don't listen loud but they fit the bill for me. I would think you can get something easily under $500. I've always had good luck buying open box from BB.

You could try:
Denon avr-1612
Denon avr-2113
Nad t-748 (40 watts x7)
Yamaha RX-V471

These are receivver below $1000
The 2113 is $999

They are all entry level but still Have the appropriate features and sound quality you will need

Does the OP live in Austraila too? I ask because the 2113 is way less than $999 in the USA. In fact a refurb 2113 with 1 year warranty is $420.

He should be able to find a receiver in the $500 or less range to meet his needs.

Most any model AVR going back the past 3-4 years should fit the bill and at much lower price points then current year models. From the Denon line, pass on the lowest level models (1312, from last year and 1513, from this year) which do not use Audyssey, and consider the 1612/1613 or 1712/1713. You can compare the models in each year group by reviewing the first few posts in each of the Denon AVR-XX12 and XX13 Owner's threads linked in my sig.

Any idea how much the Marantz SR7001 would sell for if I put it on ebay?

Completely different machines! the SR7001 is from 2007 or 2008 and 7.1 reciever and has 4 HDMI ver 1.2 inputs ( handles audio and video), 4 component video inputs and 2 component video outputs. The SR7200 (not 7002) is much older (late 2001-early 2002) and has no HDMI inputs, only 2 component video inputs and one output. It is also only 6.1. That receiver has no bids at its $155 starting price which ends in 3 hours so it wont fetch $225 nor should it.

The SR7001 would be worth much more. I would think close to $275-$300 or more. Its very powerful and a great unit for music too.

I have SR4001 which is same model year as SR7001 but lower end. Mine only has 2 HDMI inputs but I currently only have a sat receiver connected to it.

Point is that both units are old with no real value other than perhaps being a Zone 2 AVR.

I am going with the Denon 2113 linked from accessories4less.com. Hope the refurbished product does not fail me. I am also buying an extended 5 year warranty to be safe.
