Don't do that. That sort of thing generates much more complaints than not getting emails. smile.gif
The staff will handle it.
Thanks

Thanks, but seeing that at least one person came here immediately after posting one topic in one of my threads, I feel that more need to be informed. Otherwise, you (AVSForum) are missing opportunity of an audience that WANTS to be involved, but wont if they are not being driven back here through email.

Well it looks like I stopped getting any email updates since last night. I haven't touched any settings on my email that I know of. I got other email including junk email but no AVS email.

My last notification email was at 9:28 PM Eastern Standard Time Sunday from the OPPO 83 thread.

Same here since yesterday at 5:30 PM. with my Road Runner ISP.

Thought it might be RR blocking emails again so I changed my email notification to a gmail account I have.

It's not showing any of the subscription notifications(web access) but did capture the AVS verification email you get when you change your email address.

This might be an outage vs. individual email issues. I've asked the techs to did into it.

Thanks all...

It seems there's a large process running in the background that's slowing down email. It's supposed to be done late this evening so if you guys still aren't getting anything tomorrow morning, please reply here and I'll have them take another look.

Thanks!

Damburst and my inbox in flooded with updates! Thank you Mike.

I just got a bunch of them in too.

I quickly read this thread today and thought I would add my 2 cents...

Ever since the forum change I doubt I received more than 2 or 3 notifications about the threads I had subscribed to long ago... they were always set to Daily Digest. Each time I received one of these out of the blue notifications, I would check my subscription settings and they were still set to Daily Digest. One time I changed them to something else... saved the settings... went back in... changed them back to Daily Digest... and save the settings again... but that didn't work. The last time I reduced the number of subscriptions thinking that might be an issue, but that didn't work either.

Today I unexpectedly received another out of the blue Daily Digest... the first in a couple months... found this thread and noticed it mentioned Comcast. I recall having issues with Comcast years ago and resolved those issues by going into my account settings and turning "Spam Filtering" OFF and let my email program filter spam instead. Decided to go back into my account today to check those various settings again...

Spam Filtering............... [OFF]
Email Forwarding.......... [OFF]
Auto Reply..................... [OFF]
Email Safe List.............. [OFF]

I don't recall the "Email Safe List" option before, but probably turned it OFF since I had turned Spam Filtering OFF... would have made sense to me then, and still makes sense to me now.

However, today I decided to turn Email Safe List ON and add the two addresses shown in an earlier post
support at avsforum.com
notifications at avsforum.com

I'll see what happens and report back. I'll subscribe to a couple new threads which are posted to daily just to make sure.

Hi,

Your email address was one of the Comcast addresses they blocked perviously and removed yesterday.

You should be good to go now.

Who is "they" and why were they blocking some Comcast addresses? Comcast email addresses or addresses on Comcast systems?

Comcast was bouncing AVS emails back as spam thus causing the emails to be added to a blocked list.

Ah, moved to the blacklist, I've seen that happen with AVS emails before, I think it was about 4 or 5 years ago.

Hate to disappoint but I'm not good to go because this situation just became even more complicated...

As I mentioned in my last post, I changed "Email Safe List" to [ON] and added those avsforum addresses to the list. Apparently turning that list [ON] tells Comcast those are the ONLY emails you want to receive, because I haven't received ANY email messages since I made that change yesterday. I sent myself a "Test 1" message this morning... it Sent fine but was never returned.

So I just went back in, deleted the avsforum addresses and turned that list [OFF] again. I've since sent myself "Test 2" and "Test 3" messages and both came back fine, but "Test 1" still hasn't showed up.

Did I mention how much I HATE Comcast?

BUT I MAY HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION...

I belong to a Yahoo forum which sends me anywhere from 20 to 100 emails a day... and I haven't had an issue receiving those messages for years (of course even those stopped arriving after making the above change yesterday). I think the reason those messages always come through is because I have a filter set up in my account settings. I'm going to go back in now to set up a filter for this forum. Will post back with instructions later.

Went back into my Comcast account...

Verified "Email Safe List" was set to [OFF]

Then I went to email preferences and set up a simple filter...
Filter Name [AVS]
[X] Active
[X] Stop further processing
If [any] of the following conditions are met...
[From] [Contains] [avsforum]
Peform the following actions:
[Keep in inbox]

I'll see what happens with these settings and report back.

^^^^ that is too much work for an subscriber to this forum. Mike, surely there must be something you can do to help this guy?

Comcast won't give us access to his account.

Actually, for all the problems I hear about them, maybe they would. eek.gif

The emails are being sent again, but if Comcast (or any ISP) bounces them back, they stop.

Based on what I've heard over the years from Comcast users, my best advice is to not use their email platform. There are too many better options. It's not what they do best.

Thanks kezug but Mike is right... nothing anyone else can do. Besides, I may have this resolved... keeping fingers crossed and hope this lasts...

I started receiving personal email again. It took a while before messages started coming in from the Yahoo group I belong to... part of the reason may be due to the holidays... but one just showed up a little bit ago and a subsequent test post I made showed up as well. Plus I received an instant notification for this thread which is definitely a good sign.

So at this point, I don't think anyone needs to do anything but I will pay close attention for the next couple weeks just to make sure. If there is a day I don't receive a Daily Digest, I'll go online and see if anything was posted, just to see if the problem is back. But I'm hoping that filter I added will take care of things. Obviously that Email Safe List setting needs to stay OFF. They should change it to Email Restriction Setting instead.

If I don't post any further it's because everything is working. I've rather missed not keeping up with the threads I subscribed to but hopefully that's behind me now.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

So it was just @comcast emails addys that were being bounced? That wouldn't explain why I wasn't getting mine then with a @gmail addy. Comcast is my ISP but I don't use their email service, I have a Comcast email addy, I think anyone who uses their system does, but I have no idea what it is nor do I care.

If you look back a little you will see Earthlink also.

There were several, but Comcast was the only one that seemed reluctant to do anything to fix it.

I noticed I stopped receiving emails on or around 12/12 as well, I have a Hotmail account however. Can you check my account was added to the blocked list please?

You had unchecked "Send email notifications" in your profile, disabling subscription emails. cool.gif
