Chucks, great experience, the best is to find a dealer that will allow you to take them home!

I have a pair of LS50's and love them. I'm using them in a home theater with an R200C and it's a great setup.

I've tried them in my two channel system (my other speakers are Quads and Harbeths) and I could be very happy with them as my only speakers.

I hear rumors of changes for the end of the 'anniversary' production run. Anything from 'they're going to do a tower version' to 'cosmetic changes' (like loosing the rose-gold driver).

Anyone heard anything about this?

From the UK AVForum I read that the only change is the elimination of the 50th anniversary logo from the front and back. No real changes.

I am curios as to what RECEIVER or POWER AMPLIFER LS-50 owners are using with these speakers in Home Theater use. What is your view of your current amplifier/receiver and do you plan to upgrade, and IF SO, what would you like to use that you feel would improve the performance of the LS50's?

Just using my Marantz SR7002 AVR and no additional amplifier to power 5 of these in a surround setup. That plus a Power Sound Audio XS30 subwoofer in my 14x14x9 room and it's more than enough volume at -25 on the volume dial. I have not used an additional amplifier in my setup before, though, so I honestly can't say how the sound quality would change.

The dealer I go to just picked up the KEF line. I happened to stop by when they were demoing the LS-50 w/the KEF rep. They had it hooked up to a 35wpc PrimaLuna tube amp and preamp, Very impressive big sound stage and very impressive tight bottom. I haven't heard KEF's in years but these are real winners. Apparently the KEF people are going to bring in the Blade sometime in October for a demo. Curious to hear it.smile.gif

Audio Video Therapy in Nashua NH. They currently have beside the LS-50 the R-500 and the R-900 and I think a sub. The 500 and the 900 are quite good too.smile.gif

Cool! I have not heard the R Series yet but hope to in a week or so at a shop that recently took on Kef. I heard the LS50s there and they are pretty amazing. I wanted to get those for surrounds but I will try out my XQ40s in that role first.
Well the dealer feels the 900's are good enough to put in the same room as the B&W Diamonds, Aerials and the PSB Synchrony speakers. The 500's can stand up w/any floor stander in the 2500-3000 price range. For a long time they seemed to have lost their way but I feel they have found their excellent reputation again.smile.gif

Hi all

I've become the proud owner of the LS50's and are now wondering what sort of speaker stand solutions you've come up with:confused:

KEF themselves recommend very heavy and solid stands like the Custom Design fs104 Signature - but I guess I'm not the only one who bought the 50's not just for the superb sounding but also because of their dazzling looks.

In lack of better words I find the Signatures a tad "Un-aesthetic" for ls50 - or in short "Ugly as h**l".:(

Now I've stumbled upon the new Bamboos from Atacama (Moseco 6) which - filled up with sand - will pack some kilos I guess. With their bottom wood plate I believe they will be just perfect for the KEFs - visually that is.

In the shop the speaker was tested on Dynaudio Stand 3x but although a very smooth combination for the eye, it's hardly a "heavy and solid" solution.

Any ideas for a stand solution that meets both technical, aesthetic and auditive requirements?

Thx

Stand + IsoAcoustics, massive improvement to the sound.

I think the Dynaudio Stand 4 compliments the KEF LS50 nicely. I believe someone has already posted pics of them in this thread.

KEF recommends 60cm stands for the LS-50's. It's been reported stands height were making differences to soundstage and bass.

I've had a pair of these since July and they're great.  I've been waiting a while to add a 3rd for me center channel.  Anyone looking to sell one or know of a place that's selling them individually?

I thought Kef Direct (US) sells them individually.

yup, last time I checked they did.

Thanks for the help fellas.  The $800 tag for a single speaker is a bit steep for my liking.  If anyone is interested in splitting a pair message me.

Mine sounded shrill with a Creek amp (not integrated) mated with an Oppo 105, never figured out which was the culprit. I then tried a NAD375BEE and a Peachtree Nova125. The NAD was by far the best, taming the fuzzy highs. I bought it with a DAC add on.
