The "new" one posted by neuromancer is a beta firmware. You have to install either by USB or by CD - no internet installations are available for beta firmwares.

Just a quick note of appreciation to everyone who replied to my posts about Oblivion yesterday . . .

Disabled BD-Live functionality and that did the trick.

Thanks!

I generally find BD-Live pretty useless and always leave it off. Obviously helps with compatibility rolleyes.gif

I concur on the BD-Live . . .

I normally leave it off as well, but I'm assuming that it turned itself back on after a firmware update and "reset to factory defaults" deal. I'll definitely remember to turn it back off after this experience!

Well, they're getting there. Slowly. Requiring all files to be in the same folder is still a huge restriction on this feature.

Would it work with hard links? I haven't tested that with cue files. See: Are hard links supported on NTFS volumes?

That was written for local storage NTFS volumes; we should also check SMB support for other file systems. It might depend on the server.

How about posting your 'CUE file' observations within the dedicated Oppo BDP-103 & 105 and Cue Files topic

Nice additions to the new firmware beta. I just set up a NAS, so the timing is perfect. Sorting is working correctly now with SMB.
I'll assume this beta doesn't have a fix for the MKV 24p issue introduced in the last official firmware. OPPO told another poster that it would probably be 2-3 weeks, but then this beta firmware dropped shortly thereafter so I wondered if OPPO had an early surprise for us.

It does not. If it is not in the Release Notes, then it is likely that it is not resolved in the firmware. This is particularly true when things were broken in firmware. OPPO likes to point out when these kind of errors are resolved.

I don't think this is necessarily the case. There are issues they have resolved with firmware updates in the past that were never listed in the release notes.

For some reason, Plex is not super stable on the Oppo 103, in my experience. Lots of random "back to the top level" during navigation.
Also, it doesn't seem to like it when you browse too quickly.

Try another DNLA server. I'm using Asset UPnP for my audio (WHS2011) and it works infinitely better than Plex for a large music collection.

I flipped the switch on the DLNA support on my Plex server last night and while that solves the sorting problem it isn't very stable (I assume that is most likely the fault of Plex). It would just be nice if I could do all of this directly sans DLNA, but I guess I will just wait it out.

Which version firmware do you have installed?

I have the latest Asset, and it has the same problem of popping back to the top level during navigation. This is an Oppo quirk, because Asset doesn't do this when I access it through my Denon AVR.

Yup, go back a few pages and read all about it---the current "official" firmware (July 24, 2013) broke 24Hz network playback.

The public beta firmware just released (August 12, 2012) does not fix the issue although the screen info on the Oppo now displays the correct Hz for the media (again) but it is still output at 60Hz.

This is a HUGE problem for many customers, so it would not be something that they would want to just fix and sweep it under the rug. It is not in their interest to have people using a firmware which affects the performance of their player, so they will be forthright in informing the customer of the fix and encourage them to upgrade.

Smaller issues may be fixed and no listed, but something like a lack of 24Hz output from MKV containers is no a small issue.

Mkv 24hz playback is a biggie, at least for me, but Knowing oppo they should get it fixed soon

They indicated to a customer that they expected a fix within 2-3 weeks.

Nice that it arrived so quickly after the US release. - I can confirm that the JVB Digital multi-region mod works as intended also after the upgrade.

If you are running Windows, the fix was posted awhile back.

Will a multiple-file CUE play back gapless, either from local USB or from networked SMB?

All- I have no idea what this allows us to do now? Does this affect Playlist capabilities? Are we still just limited to one Playlist?

Thanks!!

I have been extremely happy with my JVB Digital all regions mod too. After I was serially defecated on by World-Import (as explained in earlier posts, it's an ugly story), I was scared to death when I added the JVB Digital to my 103. As it turned out, I had nothing to worry about. I have had my JVB Digital chip in my 103 for nearly four months and it has performed flawlessly so far.
