What's the main problem with ISO mounted on Windows? Is it that folders are browseable, but nothing can load? And is it only with BDMV, or have other things been tried as well like an ISO with files?

If its BDMV only, I don't have a Blu-ray drive or ripping software - is there anywhere I can get a free .iso to play with?

I recall that the AVS HD 709 calibration disc has both BDMV and AVCHD versions; it's DVD sized and free: http://www.avsforum.com/t/948496/avs-hd-709-blu-ray-mp4-calibration

Other file types (like mp3, jpg, etc) in ISO files should work if mounted, although there is less reason to store them that way than with DVD and BR.

So it wouldn't be any/much different than what I already have; playing music from my laptop computer wirelessly through my Logitech Squeezebox Touch. On hi rez music files quality suffers when streaming wirelessly hence my interest in using a USB drive wired directly to the playback device. The Touch does have a USB connection, but its so poorly implemented as to be pretty much useless.
Is there a chance Oppo will come out with an app that will do what I want?

Thanks. I will keep on eye on this thread to see what develops.

Meanwhile, I was looking through the manual to see how the 103 handles playing audio files (no pun intended wink.gif ) from a connected USB drive. It looks like I can see a list of songs by file structure, genre, artitst, or album. I don't see where I can add a song(s) to play after the current song(s) finish playing. Am I interpreting this correctly that I cannot add songs to play on the fly?

Thanks.

I believe DVDFab HD Decrypter is free, but iso creation (Clone) is a paid feature. However, you can use something like ImgBurn to create an iso file from the resulting BDMV and CERTIFICATE directories.

Anyone try vmcMote yet?

I am going to try this shortly, but I thought I would ask for others opinions as well.

I remember that BDMV folders enforce Cinavia, but do AVCHD folders? If not, this might be the preferred method, of junctioning a folder called "AVCHD" to the "BDMV" folder in the iso.

Someone with a Cinavia ISO may want to test this. If you junction the whole iso, is Cinavia enforced? And then if you just junction the BDMV folder to a folder named AVCHD in your share, is Cinavia triggered then?

It's worth a try but you should get the same results on local storage. SMB doesn't provide any magic.

How do you access the content inside an ISO from local storage?

What I'm suggesting is:

Mount the ISO on Windows.
Junction the BDMV folder inside the ISO to a folder named AVCHD in your share.
Enjoy!
No change to your ISO when you're done.

The purpose is to keep your ISOs intact with no re-encoding, etc - just a method to play them.

You're trying to defeat Cinvavia, right? If AVCHD is a way to do that you can test it on local storage.

Handling it out of ISO on SMB is not relevant as far as I can see.

Eject didn't work. Power off took 3-4 tries at the front panel button. Power on resulted in an eject cycle. When I closed the tray, the -103 did not resume; it acted as though seeing the disk for the first time. The second time, the movie played fine.

Yes, I assumed the last bit was normal, though it was interesting the Eject command stayed queued up through a power cycle. I was mainly reporting the hard freeze in case some pattern emerges, since it wasn't immediately reproducible.

FWIW, I just confirmed that by setting the player to Quick Start in the Device Setup menu it will be recognize by the Android application in a powered off state and allow you to turn it on. In the Energy Efficient mode (default) the Android app cannot find or power on the player.

Bottom line, in quick start mode the ethernet port remains active.

RS232 port is active in either power mode to accept a power on command.

^ Good catch! The Wifi dongle is also kept powered during Quick Start power off.

Thread Starter
RS-232 and IR interface directly with the MCU, which is always one regardless of the energy mode.

Ethernet and Wireless are only engage when the processor is on and feeding power and logic to these interfaces. This only works with the Quick Start Mode.

MHL power is also available in the Quick Start Mode.

If you have another way to access the HBO content, try feeding the result of that into the Front or Rear HDMI Input.

Roku streaming stick is now available from Roku site. 99 bucks.

So after reading bobs amazing explanation of audio over in the 103/105 anticipation thread (I highly advise people to go read it. Page 49 and 50) it got me thinking to what I should do bit stream or LPCM.

I have a denon 2313ci and an Oppo 103. How would i go about choosing which one would be the better DAC? Should I have the Oppo do the LPCM and then send it to the denon? Or since I bought the denon for this reason, should I bit stream to the Denon and have the 2313ci do the decoding? How would be the best way to choose (besides trying both smile.gif )

Also I don't care for seconday audio so that's not a big deal. Also I am going to run dual HDMI. HDMI 1 to TV, HDMI 2 to the Avr.

So the Rimu stick will only work in the front HDMI port?

Which means I would have a 3 inch purple thing sticking out in the front of my nice blu-ray player?

Bummer

What is the big advantage of the stick over the regular Roku. I currently have the RokuXS HD hooked into my AVR
post #260 of 8986
Do you connect the Roku stick using the HDMI in the front of the player?
Yes, the Roku stick has to go in the front. One of the two reasons I just bought an XS instead (the other being that it can only use wireless). An advantage of the stick is that is doesn't consume an HDMI port on your AVR, and (assuming you don't have a universal remote) it's one less remote to deal with.

Nah, you could always throw the purple stick underneath:

I think this is for a regular hdmi input, not sure if the Roku stick can work with this.

What's the word on Logitech 900 and the 103? I'm guessing the 93 codes work, but are there commands that I need to add to be harmony?

I think I might pick up a harmony touch this weekend to play with. Don't think I will like it over my 900 but something else to try.

Hmmm...I didn't think to add it merely because it can be gleamed from the manual. Maybe a separate video just for the set-up menu?

I was just about to call Fed Ex and let them have it when my 103 showed up at 9:30 pm. I have never seen FedEx deliver so late. I have to get up at 2:30 am to give my friends a ride to the airport. Now i will get no sleep! The sacrifices we make for the hobby we love smile.gif

Thanks for the news. One of the posts seemed to indicate that the Roku streaming stick might not work with HBO GO, so I will check with Roku tech support. It would be better if I could place it in one of the rear inputs, if the remote would still function, but this is a good start.

Sincerely appreciate all those posting how to best stream content through the BDP-103. My 103 arrives tomorrow and I am confused (as the 'noob' I am). Have read this entire thread and much of the 'Anticipation' thread for the 103/105. Also watched the unboxing youtube link recently posted in this thread. And read data from the media streaming section of AVS Forum.

Understand that the BDP-103 inherently includes Cinvavia.

1. If I use a media server (like the Synology units) can I stream all media thru the BDP-103 or will Cinvavia interrupt the audio for Cinvavia protected audio/video content?

2. If using a BDP-93/95 (or earlier Oppo players - or other non-Cinvavia Blu-Ray players) would Cinvavia interrupt the audio for Cinvavia protected content?

3. Would it be wise to have a pre-Cinvavia Blu-Ray player (like the earlier OPPO units) in the house to substitute when Cinvavia Blu-Rays are to be viewed over the NAS? If so, what Blu-Ray players do youl recommend?

4. Other than a media server, is other equipment (Dune HD media players, Popcorn Hour media players, etc) needed to watch iso or mkv 'Blu-Ray' streamed content?

5. Does the (about to be released) Poporn A-400 or C-300 resolve anything substantial when streaming via the BDP-103?

6. Appears the Dune HD media players may be redundant to that provided by the BDP-103 or is this not a correct understanding?

This thread's networking discussion with the BDP-103 has been very helpful, although the biggest interest is how the BDP-103 performs under all possible uses, not just networking. Apologize for the uninformed questions. Am trying to learn how to best use this great new device! Thanks again.
