I also noticed that movies by Fox take a little longer to load as compared to others.

Any feedback on the Playlists? Thanks again!!

DirecTV 3D now working perfectly. Do not have to have the tv force SBS mode (which didn't work anyways).

Well yeah, I just did the firmware update and I noticed other people saying their mods stopped working but mine didn't. All I can tell you is that I have the "pro mod" I don't know anything else because I bought it already installed. It works by pressing down 1,2 or 3 for 5 seconds depending on which zone you want. Then the player shuts off, powers right back on and you are in that zone.

Very minor nuisance; hopefully not a symptom of something else!
Oppo is aware of this as they confirmed the issue when I reported it last week when the firmware was still in Beta. Sounds like they didn't fix it in the official release.

Just to clarify, the issue is via DLNA and works fine via SMB. They also plan on implementing the info for m2ts/ts files which currently provide no information.

Judging from your description, the mod is from bluraychip in Denmark. In the past, their "pro mods" have been sensitive to fw upgrades, so for other users with this mod the result in your case should be encouraging.

I have the 103 connected to my AVR via HDMI Out 1, my AVR is in Direct Mode for video (direct is no processing). As BDs don't really need any processing, for the video output selection for the 103, should I be selecting Source Direct for best PQ results ?

Thx !
That depends on whether you think your AVR or the 103 will do the best job with DVD sources. I use these settings with an OPPO 93.

TV Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Wide/Auto
Output Resolution: 1080p
1080P24 Output:: OFF

Depending on how much you like to experiment, you might also consider comparing going out from HDMI 1 and 2, especially if you watch a lot
of SD-DVDs. HDMI 1 has some noise reduction always on, even when you've adjusted everything to "0", and even when you
use source direct. It's minimal on blu-ray (although enough to bother some of us), but it increases automatically on lesser signals
like SD-DVDs. To me, those look notably, if subtly better from HMDI 2.

It's all relative and subjective - a problem to some isn't a problem to others. The OPPO is a feature packed player that's bound to have compatibility issues others won't ever confront. For example I've had my 93 since pre-order and a 103 since last Dec. My 93 hasn't been updated since 2011 and the 103 just once Jan 2nd. Short of a wet handshack now and then and a user error/config issue mine have worked perfectly for me.

Its in beta. Check the forums. It has a registration code for the beta that lets it work beyond the trial date.

My Son set the output on the OPPO BDP-103 to 4k2k and now I can not find a way to switch it back without a pic.
Any help would be great, thank you.

Big round button at the bottom of the remote, says "Resolution". Press it twice and wait.

This is the only thing keeping me from upgrading the firmware. I do hope Pav can come up with a solution

Thanks, but the MakeMKV site says it's only in beta until the end of May so that's even less than my trial period. smile.gif

You're welcome!

At this time, the only solutions to play SACD-R is to make a ISO from your SACD-R with IMGBurn and extract dsf tracks with sacd_extract program. This is a freeware and can be easily found on Google. After extraction, you can play dsf tracks from USB or via network. This will take time and lot of HD space, especially if you have big collection of SACD-Rs.

I changed the output back to 1080p, All it does now is show the first start-up screen then turns dark, no sound or anything. If I press the pure audio button twice the pic comes up but no sound.
^ Take the remote to the player so you can view its Front Panel display. Press the Resolution button on the remote and see what comes up. Should be 1080p. Use Up/Down arrow to change that to 480p and press Enter. See if you can get enough video that way to view the Setup Menu and find/fix whatever else your Son changed.

If you can view Setup, it may be easiest just to Reset Factory Defaults (in Setup > Device Setup) and start over.

If you CAN'T view Setup there is a Composite Video "diagnostics" output on the back. Connect that to a Video input of your TV and you can use that to view Setup and do the reset. It is always 480i, simple video.

MAkeMKV converts 3D BD to MKV with PGS subtitles. Oppo doesn't support PGS subtitles in MKV. You need convert PGS subtitles to SRT subtitles, SRT subtitles work fine in MKV.

I just got the Pioneer SC-1522-K receiver from Costco (thanks to those who pointed out the great pricing!) and am replacing my Yamaha V-663. I had the 103 dual HDMI out setup, with HDMI 1 going to my Samsung 46 LCD. Anyone here using the Pioneer (it's the same as an Elite SL-65)? I'm thinking of going the single HDMI 1 to receiver to TV route. I believe I can do a pass thru to get the AV signal through to the TV without the receiver adding anything. Is there anyone here who's tried this with success? I've also been running LPCM out of the 103. I may try going back to bitstream and see what the Pioneer does to it (the Yamaha had a few issues). The Yamaha was at least four years old, and not top of the line, and the Pioneer seems to be pretty much up-to-date. I'm going to get a 3D TV within the year and wanted to be able to use a more modern receiver with it. And a new toy is always fun.

I am saying that there is a version of the player that doesn't have the required connector on the motherboard for the modchip. I doubt thats random. It has not been confirmed if you can find out in advance (by hardware revision number, or serial number) if the player doesn't have this connector. It could be a single batch, it could be that all future hardware revisions are lacking this connector.

A soldered mod is an option. We have also spotted external mods that you can hook up to the serial port (and a USB port for power).

Good news from bluraychip.dk: They told me that they will release a firmware update for the Pro Mod kit later this week...

Thanks.

I use a 64gb (USB 2) and it works just fine. Maybe it's the USB 3 that it doesn't like?

Me2. Netflix locks up and the only way to clear it up is to turn the BDP-103 off and then back on and sometimes I have to go through that drill twice. OPPO's firmware folks remind me of the incompetent roofer that went on the roof to repair a broken tile and busted 3 more getting to it.

Please make your observations known to Oppo support. Oppo has to deal with the hopelessly complicated Netflix app in the best way they can. It's inevitable that one person's fixed is another person's broken. Oppo is not the only device having issues with Netflix software.
