Be aware (not "beware" :) )---The Panasonic ET5 series is PASSIVE 3D

Many people prefer passive 3D, as do I. But it's not clear from the information they give here whether it's active or passive. In fact, it takes a little bit of digging on the Panasonic site to find out absolutely for certain what is what.

The ET5 being passive is a new thing for Panasonic this year. The higher end LED-LCD models are *active*.

Especially confusing is this chart where they list (as in the Amazon description in the above link) the ET5 as the same "3D FULL HD" description as the higher models. (If you want it clearer, right-click it and "view image" if your browser shrunk it into blurryness. It's a sharp PNG image). In my opinion, "FULL" and "3D" strongly implies a full 1080 vertical 3D image for each eye, which is only possible with active-1080 or passive-2160.

LG also calls it's passive sets "Full HD 3D". An LG rep tried to explain to me how they get away with this but I still see something reminiscent of the scanlines I used to see on my old crt based rptv when it was displaying in 480p. That being said I'm coming around to the benefits of passive for some people--generally excellent 3D effect with minimal gliltches compared to active, and cheap glasses. Where I work we sell 2 models of LG 3D set, the 6700 and 7600. Both went on backorder for a few weeks and we offered the ET-5s as an alternative to those who just "had to have it today".

I'd like to know what that rep said. Your brain cannot "piece it all together into 1080", which is what someone tried to pitch to me once. You get half vertical res. For your company though: As long as the LG's you sold are the IPS versions, then sure. But ordering LG online? Crapshoot that not everyone lucks out on. With the ET5 you're at least guaranteed.

3D-FPR(passive) use LGE/Pany/Tosh/Phil(some off entry/mid-level panels, except LGE which they apply this FPR to all level panels as well)

Pany always a little "cheat" the customers and some of their infos.are not correct or a little be confuse!

Personally I do not or never prefere 3D-FPR!! just like it 3D-SG only!

I also do not not "trust" those Korean manufacturers especially LGE!! they are cheater too!

So go to 3D-SG instead 3D-FPR! and go to "Japanese" panels instead Korean!

As more suitable/stable for 3D viewing go to Pany PDPs such as VT50 OK+
