Die Hard 5: A Good Day to Die Hard Trailer

Thread Starter
Bruce Willis is back in the John McClane role, but this time around he’s on a father-and-son misadventure in Mother Russia. A Good Day to Die Hard drops on Valentine’s Day 2013. Yippee-ki-yay!

So what do you think? Does this series matter to you anymore? Let us know!

Cannot wait for this!

Ahhh, yaa confused.gif

Cannot wait. I'd watch Die Hard movies until Bruce Willis is in Depends diapers. Somehow I think John McClane could make even diapers kick a$$.

Although I will say that the villain in LFODH was really really terrible. Did not convince me. They need to bring Samuel L Jackson back into it somehow.

seems reasonable

PG-13 politically correct money making waste of time with no grit and no swearing followed by an embarrassing unrated cut that is an insult to classic 90's action. So no, not looking forward to it after the disappointment of the Expendables 2 (which I swear was edited PG-13 first, then some frames were stuck in for R).

I never understood how a bunch of F bombs helps move a story for some people?! Live Free or Die Hard, was PG-13 and I LOVED it!

Looks interesting. I hope putting JM, in Russia isn't too cheesy.

Re-watch Expendables 1 and there is little to no swearing in that one either.

Expendables 2 is a "R" through and through.

That said Die Hard should be "R".

I'd like to see John McClane team up with Jack Bauer to take down villains! =)

I know, wishful and silly thinking

If you were shooting at me and blowing everything up I'd be swearing left right and centre. The action film really is dead. Killed by greed and CG.

I love all of the Die Hard movies... watch them every chance I get! This one looks just as good!

Not really if you're as cool as John McClane. Then you just go with the flow. Just another day for him. This is the guy who took down a helicopter with a car when he ran out of bullets. Easy breezy.

Well that's true. Lately with Expendables and now this, I feel like there's a push to bring it back though. The CGI does really kill the mood often.

What does CG have to do with it? Action movies have been using VFX since the beginning of the genre.

- It's not about the F bombs to me, it's about the level of violence. PG-13 forces some ugly action sequence cuts and relatively bloodless action.

The death of squibs for one. Take Hardboiled, then take the Expendables. See the difference? Then look at the stunts, there is no grit to it anymore, just compare action in the 21st century to PM Entertainment's 90's classics. The editing is all over the place along with the feel.

Excellent analysis!

I did not like Die Hard 4 at all and Die Hard 3 and even Die Hard 2 had a few issues. This one is like... meh...

The original Die Hard was quite spectacular with a wry satyric edge to it that made it fun. I've seen that one multiple times and never tire of it. A classic!

"This is Agent Johnson... No... the other one."

It's an apples and oranges comparison. Those other films had their flaws as well.

Definitely looking forward to it

Looks like it will have alot of yummy scenes! wink.gif

Hopefully it is as good as Live Free or Die Hard.

I don't understand though why they waited 5-6 years. He appears to be in about the same shape/age, probably the whole being bald thing from a younger age helps. And you know Hollywood after a success they like to keep them rolling out.

But hey, maybe Hollywood was going after quality over quantity...tongue.gif

I'll go see it. I love me some die hard!

I liked 1,2 and 3. I remember that 4 looked so promising before I saw it. Then it seemed like it was produced by a bunch of 12 yo boys. So implausible, especially with the fighting scene between JM and Mai Linh. Similar to Indiana Jones escaping an atomic bomb in a refrigerator. I know it's supposed to be fun but keep it mostly real. I'll wait for a BD release (as I usually do).

Although I liked Live Free, some of the stuff was nonsense - like routing all the natural gas to one location, like jumping onto and off of the wing of a jet aircraft.

What you had in the original Die Hard was a scenario you could see happening - a terrorist takeover of a building - (except for jumping off the side of the building with a fire hose wrapped around you expecitng to live).

Hollywood unfortunately thinks it has to make each sequel more and more out there, more and more full of special effects -anything but doing some good writing. I like stuff that blows up as much as anyone, but am not impressed when the explosions are there to distract the audience from the ludicrous story.

Funny I don't hear a lot of people complaining that the 22 Bond films are full of nonsense. It's all about JM, Loved him in films 1 and 2 and did not like what they did to the character in 3. When 4 came out my son called to see if I'd seen it, he said " All I can say is, He's Back! go see it."

So if John McClane is Back in classic form, I'll be right there enjoying the ride.

I'm still trying to get over Die Hard 4...oh wait a minute, I don't even remember it; lame lame lame. Die Hard 3 was the last of the swearing. What's up with all this hollywood PC Bull Sh-t???
John frickin' McClane, nuff said! I have loved these films since I was a kid, pc bs and all. The wife is a huge Bruce Willis fan. That being said, dinner and a movie now for Valentines Day!

While the PG-13 rating is a shame, the fact that this is coming out in February has me more worried. January and February is where movie studios like to dump their garbage.
Really!? Loved the first one, and I'll admit to even liking the second, but after that these were mediocre at best. I guess Fox really wants to squeeze every last drop out of this franchise. A February release says a lot about the film and its expectations.

DH1..best..full of action.
DH2...ok
DH3...ok but not better than DH2
DH4...all about network hacking...hate it. Watch it for the sake of 5-star bass quality. Speech quality has a weird tone to it, even in Bluray.
DH5...I hope I'm not disappointed. High expectation in audio quality.
