The 3D to me was better and brighter on the HW50ES. That is from my own personal experience. Also, seeing some HW50ES for sale shouldn't concern you. Heck mine was one of them but my wife of all people told me just to keep it and downsize the screen, so that is now what I am doing. I hated to sell the projector but until last night there wasn't a good way to setup the room in my rental, and my wife found a really good way, so I get to keep it. It's an excellent unit, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Thanks I appreciate that...My goal is to run two projectors so I think the RS46 at that point will be plenty bright for 3D. (160" wide AT curved screen with 1.0 gain) I need to make sure I light that bad boy up and either one stacked should do a fine job. The Sony probably better but either will do the job stacked. If the 3D mode on the RS46 was brighter it should be better because the knock I hear on it is the brightness not the quality, do you feel from your experience that even if it were brighter the Sony would still produce a better 3D image?
How would you compare the convergence options between the two? Are you using an A lens if not on your lens memory does everything accurately switch back and forth between positions?
I hear ya on the Sony used PJ's for sale but if you look at all the sites, finding a used RS46 is much more rare. 40's, 45's yes but 46's...no. That tells me more folks are happier with them...Just an assumption I know, but a logical one.Edited by 316 - 11/21/13 at 2:11pm
