GT50 vs E7000 vs ES7500 Whites?

So it's time to replace my loved HLS6188 beast with something new and pretty smile.gif

Went to BB today as I've always shyed away from Plama's due to burn in but have heard to many good things about them to ignore them. They had the GT50 & E8000 on top of one another and the VT50 to the left of the E8000. Looking at them with the BB loop the Samsung seemed to have a more pure white and the panasonics seemed to be a off white. The ES8000 blew them all away with a brighter pure white. At one point in the loop they showed snow\glaciers and the ES8000 seemed to be the most natural, but overly bright. Is this just a matter of settings or am I crazy? At one point the BB guy put the ES8000 in Movie mode and everything became more muted like the Plasma's, so I am assuming its just settings. The Panasonics seemed to have the best picture but that white bothered me so I;d like to know if it's just a setting issue.

Thanks for any and all help!

They were all most likely set to vivid aka torch mode. This is to catch the eyes of consumers (as they did with you). Since unless all were in similar settings and playing the same material via the same controlled source, its going to make your decision that much harder. The LED TVs (really LCD, but Ill just go with it) will have more picture "pop", this does not mean that they offer the best pictture however. Plasmas will seem more "muted" but will also offer the best black levels (unless you go to the very high end LED (LCD) TVs with full backlit dimming.

Really what youll want to do, its set up a budget, then take a look at the TVs in that budget. If you have a Magnolia BB store or a specialty shop it will be better than viewing things in the bright store lights and vivid mode.Youll also want to determine whats best for the room youll be putting the TV in, what type of things that will be displayed on the TV, AND what best suits the room youll be putting the TV in.

I have a decent amount of sunlight from behind my seating (as the sun is going down), but most of my TV viewing is done at night so it doesn't matter all that much. The white of the Panasonic's just seem to bother me, even though I thought it had the best picture when they showed some sports (football). I wish I could see the white's (snow, glacier) on a properly set TV so I know if that's a true issue (to me) or not.

Most of my TV viewing is HD (OTA), Blu-Rays, Amazon Instant, then Gaming in that order.
