burning hi def to dvd

Hi all, and thanks to any help / advice that can get me to save onto dvd disc.

My eqpt.

Sony HDR-CX560V High Definition Handycam Camcorder
DVDirect Express vrd-p1

i work outside with this eqpt and have no access to external power supllies
upto date i have been capturing video on "STD Quality" and then burning this onto a dvd

what i am trying to do is to use the camcorder in "HDQuality" and then burn the dvd.

length of files is a max of 30 mins

BUT i am only able to play dvd's that are recorded as std quality.

Ideally i'd even like to burn to blu ray but havent seen this option available under the circumstances
i am working in....no access to a pc or to dc.

considering buying EZDigiMagic Portable DVD Burner
(http://www.amazon.com/EZDigiMagic-Portable-Burner-Memory-Device/dp/B001ALZJIG/ref=pd_cp_pc_2)
but obviously this wont allow the blu ray option.
The camcorder has a 1500 mah battery with a lead that plugs into the vrd-p1 fooling it into an ac power supply.

Hi. I have a Sony SR11 which records in AVCHD. I believe your Sony does the same thing. I can burn a DVD in AVCHD using an NLE such as Pinnacle, or Power Director, or any of the other low price, popular NLEs, with the execption of Sony Movie Studio. As you may or may not know, AVCHD is a form of HD. Using a regular DVD, I can fit in about 20 minutes of AVCHD on the disc. On a dual layer DVD, I can fit 50-55 minutes of AVCHD on it. Most blue ray players will play AVCHD. The picture produced with AVCHD is very beautiful and the sound is wonderful when played through a home theater system.

The length of avchd discs varies from various software, ihave only used pinnacle whach allows 35m per 4.7gb disc and coral which allows 30m,It is strange to say the least why you are getting this problem.
