Clueless: need cheap/value option for music and TV

My apartment is "pre wired" for surround sound and I"m wanting to get something to enhancing my viewing experience, problem is I know nothing about audio and want to stay as cheap as reasonably possible.

My main use will be movies being played by my PS3, but I also would like a system that works well for radio/iPod and possibly blue-tooth from phone (though will skip that last part if price is prohibitive.)

I've looked through the "in a box" sections on a few sites but don't really know what to look for.

I'm not a very discerning audiophile so standard quality is OK with me, price would be the number one driving point.

Would appreciate any pointers or recommendations~!

You should really list your budget. We can't recommend something unless we know how much you're willing to spend. Also, do you want 5.1 or 7.1? Also list rough demensions of your room. This will give us something to go off of.

The room is approximately 18' x 21'. It's part of an open plan/loft and there is a stairwell going down on the 18' side opposite the TV.
The ceiling is approximately 10' though it peaks down the center at 12' I believe.
The room is "pre-wired" up front and in the back near the stairwell.

Not sure on 5.1 v 7.1 I"m not an audiophile so I"m not sure I would appreciate the difference as many here would.

The two biggest things for me are cost and balanced quality for both TV/movies but also music. Having a bluetooth capable receiver would be very nice. I would like to keep cost as low as possible as I'm frugal in general rolleyes.gif

Was thinking about the Energy Take Classic 5.1 but am not sure how that would be for music.

Bump!

What kind of wire, length, and connectors does the pre-wire have?

Appears to be basic/standard speaker wire. No connectors. I don't have any of the details and I doubt the property managers would know if I asked :-/

How about a $$ figure? That would be helpful.

can you take some pictures of the wires/connectors?

Pictures would be a plus, but you'd probably be content with any of the various home theaters in a box. Just avoid Sony.
