HDMI Questions?????

You might try the HDMI section of the AVSForum (it's down a few sections from here). There is no such thing as a 1.4 or 1.4a HDMI cable. The cable doesn't know anything about the content which the revision number is for. The only HDMI cable choices are High Speed and Standard Speed with some options.

Make sure when you append you include the length of cables you need and how you plan to switch between sources until you get a sound system.

Hard to tell how many hdmi cables you'll need without details of your future "sound system". If you just want to use the inadequate audio of your tv, you'll need an hdmi cable for each source...and like the other guys says, there's only standard and high speed hdmi cable, get hi speed if you want to utilize 1.4 features generally, although YMMV with wire gauge and distance and specific components and desired results...

But, since you asked...You'll need a high speed cable between each source component (BD player and Cable Box by your description) and your TV. So count the number of components (2) and that's the number of cables you'll need. The cables should say "High Speed" and certified somewhere in the advertising. Don't be afraid to ask for a high speed certificate if the advertising doesn't look right.

If your TV has enough HDMI inputs for the number of sources (it does) and you want to use your TV's speakers (don't know), then you're set. If either of those aren't true, then you'll need to get something to switch HDMI and/or a receiver with speakers for the audio.

Yes - it is a certified High Speed cable. If 6 foot is sufficient then you have the right cable.

I'd personally buy their lowest priced High Speed cables. You have the option of buying different colors and lengths from 1.5 ft to 10 ft. I have bought several of these for me, a friend, a cousin and my 98 year old uncle. I used a blue cable from the Blu-ray and yellow from the DVR.

I first bought a white version of the one you are buying and it is the only cable that I have had intermittent problems with attached to the same equipment. The thicker heavier cables don't make bends easily.

At the low price of the lowest priced High Speed cables you can buy extras in different lengths and colors for the same price as the thicker cable.
