Then my choice is out of sync trueHD or in sync dolby? I guess I'll have to take the latter...

Perhaps, but in my case it could also be the Onkyo HT-RC430. Both it and the TV were new at the same time, my old setup was a Sony HD CRT and a Technics receiver -- so I'd not done any upgrades in a LONG time. Add in an ATT Uverse DVR as well and it makes it harder to isolate the issue.
All I know is that with full HDMI connection, the audio needs to be adjusted an inconsistent 110 -130 MS depending on the source, and even then it does not match 100% right. I've messed with the delay settings on the receiver a ton and just cant get happy with it. Using optical its much closer, seems dead on with live action blurays and only a tad off with animation. I've even been tempted to put back to the Technics but it ran as hot as a toaster.
Could it be that my set is having issues with the processing in trueHD? Or is the receiver introducing the issue? The Onkyo only adjusts in increments of 10ms, so it may not be enough to finetune it. I really don't know enough to say for sure :-/
