I have had this set for a couple of weeks now, and I'm running into the same problem as littlerm. Basically, if you do not like the pre-set values of the gaming mode (fairly cool color, very bright, sharpness set WAY too high) then you is out of luck for gaming. Like littlerm said, whenever you change ANY value the TV turns on some type of processing, even if you turn off everything in advanced settings. The input lag goes from very good (~31ms) too very unplayable in my opinion. I actually emailed Vizio customer support with this issue and they knew exactly what I was talking about - and they confirmed that, at least with this newest firmware (the 1.25.XX), there is no way to customize the game mode. This is really a shame because it seems to be a software issue, and in all other respects this TV is the best bang-for-the-buck set I've found. The worst thing about the game mode is that the sharpness is set to 32 - this makes the foliage especially look very harsh and contrasty in games. It is really noticeable in Red Dead Redemption - the grass in the distance looks almost white instead of green due to the artificial edge processing. I've also noticed it on the PS4 in Killzone.
So, my options are:
1) Take the TV back (my window is almost gone for that at Target) and spend $200-500 more on a higher quality set.
2) Live with the game mode settings. I have a feeling that after the "newness" of the set grows off and I get sucked into a game, that I won't notice it as much. This is a compromise.
3) Hold out and hope for a software update that fixes this issue. Seems very unlikely to me...
