The solution was to set my access point to a 20MHz channel bandwidth...it was previously set to 40MHz. Generally speaking, its not the best idea to set a 2.4GHz wifi radio to run at 40GHz, unless you have a very clean RF environment and need the extra throughput...anyway, the wireless card in the Vizio set will not handle a 40MHz channel width. It will work, but not correctly. Setting a 20MHz channel width immediately solved the issues I was having with DLNA and the apps, and the TV is working great now.
If you are having issues with the apps and streaming, check the settings in your access point channel configuration.
I should have known to start at Layer 1 first...

So i am having lock up issues with my TV with my remote and not being able to raise volume on t tv with the control panel or the remote, i have a technician coming out to fix the issues that are similiar to yours, how did you get your TV working if your technician did not resolve the issues?

I just get worried of using a bolt that is too long and hits circuitry in the TV.

I questioned whether or not the bolts that came in the set were long enough too. I called Vizio just to be sure. They assured me they were OK. I used them and have no problem with the wall mount at all.

thats funny, when i called vizio, they insisted that the tv did not come with mounting screws preintalled in the back of my tv....i then proceeded to read it right out of the owers manual and they were still confused...

Mine were surely there and I used them. However, in the next day or so I will be taking it off the wall so that I can install a Wiremold casing to hide the wiring. I believe I will first go to the hardware store and get 4 bolts (M6 X 16MM) as I see several other folks who used a MonoPrice mount have done.

For me, that's just a little extra peace of mind. The supplied ones appear to be fine, but I'd just like a little more "bite" on mine.smile.gif

i used some 16mm screws that came with my mount plus some washers....the heads on the 16mm were larger, and less prone to stripping....i just felt better about having the extra lenth....

I am new to the forums and am glad i found this thread while searching google. I am wondering if anyone has issues where the TV volume control becomes unresponsive. I just got the TV a few days ago and all was working fine. I love the picture of the TV and have no lip syncing issues. I do have the backlight issues when looking at a black screen but that i can overlook.
My main issue is that my 60 inch becomes unresponsive to the remote and the side control panel. I am unable to raise the volume or change the input on the TV. The VIA button works but thats about it. I have replaced the batteries, unpaired and re-paired the remote and still nothing seems to work. The Tv does this sparactially so sometimes the volume control will work and sometimes its doesnt. I also noticed that when turning the TV off i hear a popping noise from what i think is the speakers and again when i turn it on. As i stated that this is not constant it does it every now and then but it gets highly frustrating. I called Vizio and they wikll be sending a repair person to fix it.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had these same issues and what your resolve is/was? Thanks for taking the time. Im sorry in advance if there was a post about this that i may have overlooked.
I have found the remote to be VERY directional and just pointing it at the screen doesn't always work. The place to point the remote is at the bottom left corner of the TV, where the little led power light is located. If I do that, it works 100% of the time.

Hello ...

I have asked this question before and since I did not get any replies ... was trying to see if any of you have any suggestions on the issue I have ..

My TV is connected via the Ethernet cord to my router which has in-built DLNA ( ASUS RT-N56U ) . The problem that I have is that when I have around 45 pictures in a folder and when I try to view the pictures on the TV .. it always displays the first 25 pics and then starts over from the first picture. Even if I scroll to the last picture in the menu and click on it it still shows me some picture in the first 25 ..

Any suggestions ?

Also any idea on which video formats that this TV supports ?

Thanks in advance ..

You can do a system memory reset which will reset all to out of the box form, but that will also of course erase all your other settings.

You could try turning your Wireless modem off and then turn the TV off.... wait a couple of minutes, and then turn your TV back on to see what happens when it cannot find your wireless modem?

You might try calling Visio and asking them if there is some way to just disconnect the WiFi settings?

I saw this in another response and thought it might solve your problem too?

Thanks for the response .... but I am connected via the "wired" connection. The solution in the post mentioned above might help people who connected their TV to the "wireless" network.

Fwiw on the sound sync issue fwiw my audio, was early, not late , and it was consistent across sources at about 125ms. Fixing it was a simple matter of using my receivers audio delay adjustment. Now it's perfectly in sync regardless of what I watch.

I don't know anything about your picture issue, sorry.

As far as Video goes, I have a bunch of mkv files that do NOT work over DLNA, even with Plex. So, I convert them to AVI HD using WinAVI All in one Converter. I notice no loss of quality and it looks great and streams great wirelessly to my TV.

Also, if I record video using my canon camera it is an .mp4 file, that streams flawlessly as well.

I don't even use Plex anymore. I think it is fairly worthless if the TV does not have a native Plex app. I use Windows Media Player library and have enabled file sharing straight from my Win 7 PC. Works great with the media app on the TV.

We bought one of these from Amazon Prime and I have to say I love it for the most part.
Only had it for 1 day now.

My wife said she did notice the lipsync lag today with a news station after it had been on a couple of hours. Changing channels cured it for awhile. I can live with this for now, but I would hope this is fixable via firmware or something. What is the latest on this?

The real downer is that we have a dead pixel(s) right in the upper middle of the screen. Shows up and a dark spot right in the middle of a newscasters forehead. Any chance this will go away? Are there utilities that might possibly fix it? It is very visible with bright light backgrounds from my normal viewing distance.

I am not sure I can live with this and it makes me wish I had bought local.

Anyone know how it works with Amazon returns? I understand there is a pretty good policy with Amazon, but how much hassle is it? Do they pick it up or is it all up to me to get it shipped back?
I would prefer to exchange for another of the same model as I do really like this TV otherwise.

Well, my son helped me take the set off the wall today. Before starting I double checked the bolts that MonoPrice supplied with their mount. They actually had the 16mm in the package (using a spacer) so I changed mine out today. The extra bite felt good as I reattached the brackets to the TV. biggrin.gif

The Wiremold mouldings are now on the wall and all my wiring is hidden very nicely. smile.gif

Since I was seeing some of the lip sync issue I also changed my HDMI ports from 1 & 2 to be 3 & 4. I didn't see any sync issues this evening while watching. Hopefully that problem is solved. I had read some postings saying that using the ARC on port 1 might have something to do with the lip sync. My set-up is very simple. I'm using an optical OUT from the TV to my sound bar. I have 2 HDMI ports in service. One is for my DirecTV DVR and the other is for my Samsung Blu Ray player.

Hi!
I'm am a very excited new owner! So far it's beyond my expectations and I'm giddy with the possibilities. I've read through the entire thread and find there is much I am completely clueless about. This is my first real dive into the world of hi-tech TV so please forgive me! I'm pretty smart and get stuff pretty quick but I don't have all the time I'd like to look up every fancy term I come across here. You guys know your stuff so if anyone is willing to dumb it down for a newb, ill be forever indebted. wink.gif

I've had a Sylvania 42" plasma HDTV for about 6 years and I'm starting to realize that I may have wasted many years of a great tv due to my lack of knowledge. But better late than never...the old Sylvie is still going strong and now in our BR so I hope to bring it up to par by learning from you all.

But back to my ludicrous e601i...we are getting our new cable boxes today or tomorrow so I have to learn how to make the most of my TVs ASAP.

Here is the sad part...HDMI? Is that how I get a real HD picture? Ugh. I know. Don't laugh, I told you need help. Lol

When I watched The avengers Blu ray I saw at the top right a little window that said 480i. I'm not at home to check but is it safe to assume I don't have an HDMI cable plugging in my player? Do they come with HDMI cables or do I have to buy them for all my devices? Will my Comcast HD boxes come with them? I know I can ask Comcast but everyone knows how fun it is to call them. Lol

On the e60 we will have the HD DVR box, the Blu ray and the Xbox connected. How do I get the most out of these babies? Would someone share how they set up a similar um, set up? Right down to cables used, ports used, settings etc? I understand if its too much to ask, feel free to ignore me. wink.gif

Thank you in advance for your help and for all the info I've already found!

So far, I am mostly happy with this TV. Got it at the Walmart BF...

Hooked up my Vizio SoundBar (VSB200), using the 'Line Out' from the TV, which is configured to change the output thru the Volume Control, disabled Internal Speakers, and also hooked up a Sub-Woofer to the SoundBar.
I did notice static noise when TV is powered off, and if the SoundBar volume was set high. Need to call Vizio about this.

I also happen to own a Vizio Tablet, which comes with an IR emitter, and the Vizio Remote Control App. That App is woefully out of date, and does not include this TV in it's device list, so, I picked a random Vizio Model. The remote for that model happens to have a 3D button. Clicked on it, and the TV responds!

Clicking '3D' button

Options for 3D input: 'SBS', 'TB', & 'Sensio'

Options for 2D Input: '2D', 'SBS', 'TB', & 'Sensio'

This is with firmware v1.1.4

No idea if the TV is capable of actually displaying 3D format, as I do not have a 3D source, and if so, whether it is 'Active' or 'Passive' kind. In case it is active, how could it trigger active 3D glasses.
Any thoughts or ideas?

A loose HDMI is a red herring. That is to say, a loose HDMI wasn't the cause of the issue. If your HDMI cable is passing video and sound it is operating at 100%, loose/fastened/whatever, because it's a digital cable. Maybe power cycling your devices fixed the issue but I'd certainly keep a lookout for it to return.

Vizio generally uses the same menu and remote codes for all of their TV's....however all of Vizio's 3D TV's use the FPR passive technology developed and used by LG, and thus require a special film to be applied on the tv at the factory, the E601i-A3/E701i-A3 DO NOT have this 3D film and are not 3D capable....sorry to squash anyones hopes!

Can't get closed caption to turn on a Vizio E601-A3, trying from remote and also on menu -will not highlight to open.

I have a Vizio vht 215 soundbar hooked up to it, does that have anything to do with it?

Thanks for this info. Just to be clear, are you saying that the only thing preventing this set from being 3D capable is this film layer? And is it a film applied to the screen, or is it part of the overall sandwich? Ie could it be retrofit if we found a supplier?

Guys, please can someone help me out. I'm so frustrated. I cannot get this TV to work at 1080p above 24hz/24fps. I returned the first TV thinking it may be a unit specific defect, but the second one is exactly the same.

***I have the TV connected to my Denon 1712. I can play cable TV fine at 1080i @ 60hz (which is the broadcast max so thats fine).
***I also have a WD Live Hub connected to the Denon. When I select the Hub's video output at anything above 1080p @ 24hz, the screen is just blank. There is no picture. If I use the Hub at 1080p @ 24hz, then there is a picture. I can also use the hub at 1080i at 24hz, 50hz and 60hz without a problem. Maxing out at 1080p at 24fps is epic fail. Some video requires 1080p at 30hz (like Downton Abbey), and therefore stutters if you set the output to 24fps. I am unable to watch any DVD quality video from my HUB in 1080p at anything above 24fps at 1080p. I have to use 1080i. I have a cheap Element 55" TV that was replaced by this Vizio, and it absolutely worked without any problems, with the exact same setup (so its impossible that its a cable problem, receiver problem etc).
***I can also confirm the same problem with my Sony Blu Ray player. When I turn on the Blu Ray player, the TV screen goes blank because the menus are outputting to the TV from the player at 1080p @ 60hz and then the TV displays an error message "NOT SUPPORT!". When I insert a Blu Ray into my Sony Player, the disk autostarts and the player converts the video to 24fps, and only then can I see the picture on the TV.

I am utterly convinced that this TV cannot do anything above 1080p at 24hz/fps. Can anyone please help me. I am so pissed at the time it took to mount both sets and calibrate them and get them setup, only to run into this problem. Please please tell me I can fix this.

Thanks.

PS. I have the latest firmware 1.1.4

LOL at the NOT SUPPORT! message!! (Sorry to laugh at your pain, but that message just makes me giggle inappropriately, like Vizio simply refused to consider having a native English speaker proof their copy).

As to your problem, I have the 70" but am not sure how to test given the rest of my set up. I'll take a look though.

Please take a look and let me know if yours is working. I really really really hope I can get this setup to work. Great price, decent TV, but I will be sad if the project fails cause this TV is not as advertised.

Don't have any experience with a WD Live Hub, but thought that Downton Abbey was shot and released at 1080p/24fps on BluRay. Is the WD Live hub trying to upsample the original video to take it to 60fps? One other thought in troubleshooting this issue is whether the Denon will pass a 1080p/60fps signal?
EDIT: From Denon on the 1712: The video section features the latest Video Reference Series processor from Anchor Bay Technologies, Analog and digital video sources are upconverted via Anchor Bay VRS processing to HD quality providing analog-to-digital video deinterlacing and upconversion to HD, with both component and HDMI outputs, and features 1080p 24Hz/60Hz HDMI pass-through, allowing a single HDMI cable run to your HDTV.

As I have been researching this issue I have found other posts which also talk of the Visio not supporting 1080p/60fps from some video sources and one post which claims that Visio admitted that the TV does not support 1080p/60fps at all?

The more I read on this issue the more confused I get on it. eek.gif

Okay this has now happened to me twice so others must have experienced it.

My apps have been updated. All the applications I added are removed and it seems that the apps that are standard reappear. My profile switches back to guest. I re-login with my Yahoo profile and my added apps do not reappear and I have to re-add all my apps and reenter IDs and password.

Does this happen to you? Am I not saving my profile correctly?
