Amateur and htpc calibration

Thread Starter
I have decided to move me into deep water and try to calibrate my setup :-|

But not to drown before I reach the shore is just a few things I need to have in place :-)

I use my htpc to view images, surfing the Internet, but primarily it is used to watch blu-ray on. This is done through: WMC, Media Browser and played in MPC-HC + LAV Filters and madVR

Would the following be correct?

1: Calibrate TV through a neutral source (Blu-ray Player)
2: Calibrate Windows so that pictures etc are correct. This is done by being created an ICC profile?
3: Calibrate MPC + madVR. If this is done by creating a 3dlut file thus bypassing the ICC profile I created before?

Will I be able to do all this with such X-Rite i1Display Pro? Should I use other software?

Did you ever calibrate your setup?
