That's over 2x the downstream rate my cable had, for less money, on the 5 yr pricelock package.

Just found a new test with different speed rates..Tested my speed:

Down load @ 29.5Mbps and uploaded @9.14 Mbps

Now I can compare at the same rates...

OK I think I am getting this, then your speed was 12.1Mbps and you say that is twice as fast as your old cable?? Sad.

Looks like I need 40Mbps DSL to match/beat my current Cable rates.

Thanks.

I am getting my replacement next week. That will put to rest if there's something wrong with the projector.

I've had this projector for a week now and I'm loving it. Now I need to get a ceiling mount which gives me about 15 inches to the lens. Any suggestions?

thanks

As far as mounts go, I ordered the Peerless PRGUNV Precision Gear Universal Projector Mount - Black for my 5020, and couldn't be happier. I had a 7'11 ceiling height, and didn't want it dropped down any farther then it had to be. But the cool think about this mount is that you can mount it flush, and bring it down with 1½ pipe. You can go to home depot and get nipples, cheaper then buying one sometimes.

Evening guys! Just bought a 3020 on Saturday so I'm glad to be part of this club. Found an open box unit at Best Buy and with the 10% coupon they have right now off of open box items and combined with some reward certificates and gift cards I ended up paying $800 OTD. Does anyone know if the Sanus VMPR1 will work as a mount for this PJ? It's listed on the Epson website so I think it would but am just trying to confirm before ordering it. Looking forward to your response.

Have any gamers done any lag tests or online fast pace gaming with the 3020? I've now read multiple mixed reviews on the gaming performance and am looking for more first hand experiences before pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

thanks Rich for posting this. This would be my first mount, did you screw it into the joists? How are the instructions?

thanks

Just got my 3020 installed and powered up for the first time. Pretty much blew me away. I will say that getting the projector and screen centered just right in my room was a little difficult. Fishing my electric and hdmi lines was pretty painless due to my unfinished mechanical room next door and the ceiling joists running the right way. I used old work electric boxes and tamper-proof receptacles. I did a ceiling mount with a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WBLGAK/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00 peerless mount, that was easy enough. I really liked the mount, virtually all metal parts, no plastic, with easy adjustments up and down, left to right, for the fine adjustments. The HDMI splitter I ended up using, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Z4R45K/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= , works great, just like it should, running 35 ft to the projector, no problems at all. Just ran a little of Prometheus 3D and Under the Sea. Will try some gaming and 2d to 3d conversion later. I ended up using a 100" Elite electric screen, which was sized for my room, wanted bigger, but would have been a little too big, the 100" works just right.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the contributors to this forum, I have read every page, and everyone's contribution was very helpful.

BETTER!!

The 2D to 3D works now.

AND this one is noticeable sharper.

My 2D to 3D works but it looks horrible.. like it randomly picks what is going to pop out and stay in.. like sometimes someone's red button on a shirt will pop out but not them or the shirt... it's completely unuseable...
I've done all the calibrations ect ect....

Is it just me or does the Epson 8350 just have a way better 2D image?
The 3020 has an amazing 3D image but I think the 2D blu ray images kinda suck and it's definitely not as sharp as using for a huge 1080 2D computer monitor.. The text on the 8350 is razor sharp and no matter what i do I can't get that on the 3020

The 2d to 3d upconversion works better with animation, but it isn't close to true 3d content. You might get it calibrated by a pro and that should help the image. Seems I read somewhere about settings to help with text, but it will never be as sharp as a monitor. If you want a HUGE 2D monitor screen, wait for oled 4k.

Hey guys! What a great thread!!! Thank you all for sharing.
I am planning to purchase my second projector. I used to own an Epson TW-600 and I was amazed by the pic.
I guess in my eyes it's hard to tell the difference. As long as it is nice bright colorful image, I am amazed:) Still a newbie I guess.

I am debating between the 3020e and the 5020e. Is there a big difference picture wise?
My main concern is lens shifting.
Does the 3020 needs to be mount on the ceiling? is there any way I could put him on a table or on the side?

I am also planning not to buy a screen but project it to a big white wall...is this totally wrong? smile.gif

Does anyone live in New York city that could help setting it up?

Thank you all for your time
Nick

The 3020 does not have lens shift,so u cannot put on the side.it has to be an x amount of inches below or above the top of the screen or bottom

Domingos is correct; without the lens shift, the lens of the 3020 has even with the top or bottom of your screen depending on if its ceiling or table mounted. A white wall should be fine. The 3020 throws out so much brightness I think it'll be OK.

Hello everyone!

I just got the 3020e, and I'm having a problem with the wireless transmitter. The Epson help line is stumped, so any help you could provide would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have all my components (i.e., cable, Blu-Ray, Apple TV etc) all running into the HDMI inputs on the wireless transmitter. Then I have an HDMI cable running from the HDMI output on the wireless transmitter to my flat-screen TV. By pressing the "output" button on the remote control, I'm able to toggle between the picture showing up on my TV, OR showing up on the projector.

However, I need to be able to send the signal to BOTH my TV AND my projector at the same time. (Not that you care, but there are two reasons I need to do this: I am going to host a party and need the image projected in both rooms, and also my sound system is plugged into my TV because I don't have a receiver, so in order to have sound coming through the good speakers instead of the 3020's little speakers, the TV needs to be on and displaying the same content).

When I first set it up, this was working fine. I was able to have the image coming to my projector AND my TV at the same time. I re-worked the wires (because they were tangled) and I haven't been able to make it work ever since. I have no idea what I'm doing different.

I think when it worked before, I just pushed the output button and it offered me 3 options: TV only, projector only, or both. Now it's only giving me TV only and projector only.

Have you figured out a way to get it to go through both at once?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!
Sounds like it's related to a "handshake" issue, where the order the components were connected and/or powered on, have somehow limited your output selection options?

Alot of people mount their pjs on walls, using shelves and such. Shouldn't be an issue. You'll just have to find a mount or shelf that works for your situation.
Thanks very much for the reply. Epson called me back after researching it (amazing customer service!) and said it was never designed to do what I wanted it to do. It was a fluke that I was able to make that happen. So I had to buy a 1-in, 2-out HDMI splitter, so that I can run the signal to my projector and my TV. It's definitely an imperfect solution, since it selects the lowest common denominator resolution (i.e., my TV is only 780p, so I will only get 780p to the projector as well) but at least I will be able to display in 2 rooms for the party I'm having. Someday I'll get a proper receiver, and that should help.

thanks, if you can guy suggest me any mounts for the wall it will be great... also if you know anyone who can help installing it...(upon payment of course) i will really appreciate it.. What is the best wireless HDMI option to go?

Thanks guys!

Hi all:

I'm in the ~$1000 range for PJs and have been back and forth between the 8350 and the new benq1070 but after reading so many stories about convergence issues (sharpness) with the 8350 my eyes are watering. The 1070 seems to have its own QC issues and some RBE of course.

Which brings me to the 3020...is it safe to say convergence issues should be rare/correctable (largely) with the adjustment function. With the lack of sharpness that "blackouts" seeing after all his adjustment, I'm a but leery.

LCD: dust blobs, convergence issues.
DLP: RBE

Throw in lack of lens shift (even just vertical) no 24FPS support and some other not picks and you start sweating about spending $1,000-$1600 on a PJ you're scared just won't do it for ya.

Venting, sorry.

For those with a 3020e model ... does the wireless HDMI HAVE to be within line-of-sight? (is it that sensitive?)

Will it work if it's behind drywall in another room?

You can google images and build one yourself, or take a look at the Omni shelf mount, alot of people use it, might require some dusting at times I guess. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1449027/epson-5020ub-owners-thread/90#post_22915885
Check out some sites that have reviews on the HDMI wireless products they sell, monoprice, newegg, etc. and buy where returns are no issue in case your unhappy. Seems the main issue is that sometimes the signal needs to resync ever so often, that and a little slower on source switching.

Did you check the manual to see if anything is mentioned there? http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/plhc3020/plhc3020ug.pdf
post #419 of 759
Well lens shifting is no problem if you mounting it in place, after all, once you do the set up you will never touch it again.

So plan you mounting better.

I have had a few PJs a Infous X1 then A HP and for a short time a Benq mw516..and I found my feeling for the BenQ a little on the cheap side...granted it was not a 1070 but if you don't like one model then you may find the same flaws in another..I am under the strong impression there is NO color lever or tint control on the 1070 (the 516 did not have them and a company that sells a 3D READY PJ and does NOT make it clear that it only works with special school/industrial type software loss a lot of points with me..

I did go thought a couple of 3010s and ran into some minor problems with them BUT I loved most of the features and so jumped into a 3020, and even then had to exchange it, BUT at long last it is sharp and clear and BRIGHT and I am totally loving it.

And those color controls are full on all inputs as well.

Just make sure you can change it out easily until you get a good one.

Have no need for 24 FPS so can't react to that...

My 2 Cents.

Rich

If your concerned, and I would be too, consider buying from the company that has the best support, which is most likely Epson. No one can guarantee you'll get a perfect 3020 pj, and even if convergence is off 1/2 pixel, you can't see it from viewing distance. Don't expect perfect lcd convergence, it's very rare on a 3lcd pj. Some people have had issues, and you hear about those here as people are "venting" and is the nature of the forums. Your going to hear the negatives more here, and alot less of the people that were happy with no issues. Pick the one that meets your needs/price, you've already did the smart part in researching your purchase here.
