Poor am radio reception from my Denon

What can I do to improve the reception coming from my Denon? I'm not sure what the model is (I'm at work) but I paid about $1000 6 years ago.

Try relocating the existing antenna to another location in the room, or add a powered antenna, or use a roof mounted antenna.

No specific recommendation although Best Buy is a good source and you can return it if it doesn't work any better.

The basic design isn't new, been around for years, and it does work well. Don't forget AM antennas are directional, the need to be perpendicular to the direction of the station.
