Need help with speaker placement... too high... too low?

Hi there folks. I just wanted to ask some advice on if I mounted my speakers too high for my front and front right channels.

They used to be on stands, but I just yesterday wall mounted them to a) hide the wires and b) prevent my son from playing with the stands. I fear however I may have mounted them a little too high. They are right above ear level when sitting down on the sofas. They are approximately 3.75 ft off the ground. Here is a pic...



and here is how they were before...



Let me know what you all think? Should I move them down? I know its mainly personal preference, but what would you do? Moving them would require patching 5 holes on each side and re mounting them all.

How do they sound? If the sound is comparable I wouldn't sweat it. I've had to make similar compromises to keep the little ones at bay. Audible results were "acceptable", not optimal in my case.

Try to sit up in your seat so the tweeters are at ear level (stack of books under your rear). Does it sound different? If yes, is it better? If yes, is it better enough to be worth the patchwork effort?

Anything but 3 yeses and you can relax this weekend. smile.gif

I know I live with some audio compromises for the sake of kids.

I think you are obsessing. As others have pointed out, what matters is how they sound to do. If you need to have the tweeters bore-holed on your ears and they no longer are, shim up the backs of the speakers and point them down at you.
