Starring everyone's favorite nude actress Mathilda May. Is there any other reason to watch this movie? Well there is I guess. A funky story line involving aliens capable of draining your life energy and precious bodily fluids. The script was being written as it was being filmed. It's a B movie wrapped in an A movie budget, $25 million which was substantial for 1985. I was surprised to find a poster with the original movie concept title - Space Vampires
. The film was actually shown in a 70mm blow-up with a 6 track soundfield in a few select theaters in the UK and U.S. Must have been quite a spectacle. An under-achiever at the box office but a cult classic now.
I recently watched my Blu-ray copy (released in June) and thought it sounded and looked very good especially given the special effects of the time. I enjoyed the extras on the disc. Ms. May is still an attractive lady and her memories of the filming are quite interesting. I got a laugh from watching the interview with Steve Railsback when he talked about Patrick Stewart's appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Stewart was asked if he remembered his first on-screen kiss. Yes, he said, it was Steve Railsback.Edited by Mr.G - 8/18/13 at 6:19am
