A 1995 film the wife and I like to revisit every so often. The story takes place during the holiday season so I thought it a timely entry with Christmas around the corner.
A big box-office success making $182 million worldwide on an investment of $17 million. A veteran cast with Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman, Peter Gallagher, Peter Boyle, Glynis Johns and Jack Warden. Music by Randy Edelman. A lonely token taker working for the Chicago CTA rescues a man pushed onto the tracks. The romantic and personal entanglements that develop as the result of her heroism are the crux of the story. A feel-good movie with a charming cast. The director Jon Turteltaub would go on to make the National Treasure
movies among others.
Bullock has made her fair share of romantic comedies and this is one of her better ones. The first time I really noticed Bullock was in Love Potion No. 9
in 1992 and then again in Speed
in 1994. After that I knew she was someone whose career I would follow more closely, she's been in 40+ movies so far.
