I have a Lumagen Radiance XE that I currently use with a projector and ISCO lens. I want to add a secondary 16x9 monitor to my equipment rack and need separate controls for scaling as the monitor supports more limited frame rates than the projector, and of course it doesn't have an anamorphic lens to handle the vertical stretch on CinemaScope material:). My plan is to split HDMI output 2 from the Radiance to a second scaler for the monitor if I can find one that meets my technical needs and price point.
My technical needs are pretty basic: 1080p/24/60 in and 1080p/60 out over HDMI, and the ability to squeeze/shrink the image vertically (back to 2.35:1 in a 16x9 frame) when sent a 16x9 image that has been vertically stretched by the Lumagen for use with my projector and lens.
My price point is up to $350. I don't want to spend a lot on this as it's just a monitor in the rack, but I want to do it right if possible at this price point.
One option I've been looking at is a used DVDO VP50, which supports all of the right connections and frame rates. It also appears to have a lot of flexibility in supporting custom input/output aspect ratios, but I don't have experience with it so I'm looking for some feedback. I also looked at the Lumagen HDQ, but it doesn't support 1080p60 (edited: I mistakenly said 1080p24 initially, which is supported) on the inputs.
My question is:
Does the VP50 have the squeeze/shrink capabilities I need, and how would one set it up using what I expect would be the custom aspect ratio controls?
