Depends on settings and the relative brightness of the two projectors. I doubt the HD66 is darker but as has been mentioned several times before in this thread black levels on the W1070 are typical for its price range and DLP design...medicore. Several other posters have made the swap from an older 720p DLP (Acer 5360 & Optoma units) to this, and while they are happy they certainly were not "blown-away" by any particular quality.
I think this is more evidence that the older machines were pretty darn good, rather than casting aspersion at the new BenQ...black level aside of course.
Hey, there has to be some compromise at the sub-$1000 level otherwise JVC & Sony may as well throw in the towel.
