In an early announcement to retailers, Sony will be releasing 'Looper' on Blu-ray on January 1.

And the US date has not been confirmed so it isn't in the thread yet, simple

I liked it, but doubt that I'll buy this on disc. US release shouldn't be to far off from the UK...

When I saw this movie, had mixed feelings.

We saw Looper a couple of nights ago and I loved it.
It sucked me in and I found myself rooting for a child killing mass murderer. Wow.

I will buy it.

I was just surprised.

One of my favorite films from this year so far, really looking forward to the Blu-ray release. Hopefully they'll put together a nice set of special features.

How do spoilers work again?

LOL

Welp, good thing I was only going to spend $1.70 to rent it from Redbox.

Damn, really regret clicking this thread now.

I was holding out for the Blu-Ray release to see this. Please tell me the film isn't ruined for me now.

Not really, but it did not help

SInce you don't really know the context of what he posted, you should be just fine. But this is why for some films it's best to see them in the theater, early on.

Best to see it in the theatre?
Or best to see that we have a place for movie discussion, and this its not it??
Seriously that insensitive spoiler crap has a place.

Also this forum has a spoiler button.

I also saw this, and found it a little disappointing considering the high rating.
It's a time travel movie and one of the best one in recent memory. It's a day one buy for me.
i'll be purchasing it. i still have the commentary on the hard drive that was made to listen to while watching Looper in the theatres.

Watched the Blu-ray tonight. Completely spaced on seeing this movie when it had it's theatrical run and had no idea what the plot was other than it concerned time travel in some way and featured Bruce Willis (could be describing 12 Monkeys, lol!).

Turned out to be one of the better surprises of any movie from this year I've seen. The movie kind of falls into three acts and just when you think you've got the plot sussed out and know how everything's gonna shake out in the end, the movie takes a major detour in another direction. I won't go into further detail but it certainly pulls the viewer's loyalties and emotions towards certain characters in unexpected directions and is easily one of the better time paradox-type movies I've ever seen (including... you got it... 12 Monkeys).

The Blu-ray looks and sounds incredible. The excellent transfer fully complements the often beautiful photography and the nicely realized surround mix fully envelopes the viewer. For a change, here's a technically great looking *action* movie that doesn't come at the expense of an intelligent, somewhat original plot, direction and acting (compared to say, the Total Recall and Dredd remakes).

One of the few movies from 2012 I'd call a recommended blind buy.

And it ended up being one of the most profitable films of 2012. It made them gobs of money.

How was the camera work in Looper? I very much dislike shaky, handheld camera work!!

Inventive not whobbily unless there is a reason

The thing I remember most about this movie from the theaters is Willis' 80's flashback moment biggrin.gif...
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Willis goes through the crime lord's hideout and takes out his entire crew. No bullet proof vest, no body armor smile.gif. That was so 80's biggrin.gif. But its what made Expendables 2 fun, that invincible 80's tough guy stuff.

Certainly not bad in that regard, fantastic audio and video as well.Very good use of LFE and great dialog intelligibility. I'd not seen this in the commercial theater berfore and I enjoyed the film very much.

Saw it again last night on blu ray, and I liked it...
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Great interaction between the Bruce and his younger self. Interesting scene of the main character giving up his best friend to the mob boss from the future.

Gets bogged down at the farm house for a little, as they introduce the woman and her "son"...then picks up speed again for a highly dramatic conclusion.

I dunno...the whole shooting down defenseless kids thing was a little much and probably wasn't necessary. Especially considering the tradgedy in Connecticut. They could have made it so the kid was obviously the one, and there isn't any other 2 to track down.

...but if you can stomach that, its a film with a surprise twist near the end, and a high drama climax.

Not seen this in the commercial theatre? You could have just said "theatre". Do you really think of your basement set-up so highly that you consider it necessary to differentiate it in this way from professional theatres?
