Conan the Senior Citizen

I dunno what to say about this....eek.gif

Well obviously they're not gonna have him topless and tanned like 30 years ago wink.gif The storyline will most likely feature him and a younger protagonist (Conan's son?) fighting who knows what and Conan will probably die at the end because a king has his reign, and then he dies. tongue.gif

I fully expect Ah-nold to look, while not his former self, pretty well ripped for this film and better than any guy his age has a right to. A little HGH, a little dianabol, low-carb/high protein diet, some serious training - you know he's going to go for it. Just because he's got something to prove. Nobody reinvents himself like the governator, baby.

Agreed, it's amazing what a little bit of chemicals can accomplish.wink.gif

Unfortunately, as anybody who followed cycling back then knows all the top riders cheated, or else you weren't "top". It was no big surprise it was uncovered. What do you think would happen if the NFL tested players every game? Just like everything else, when there's money to be made, some will do "whatever it takes".

For the new Conan, Ahnold could be CGI'd to look good. Save him a lot of work! Sly and Mickey Rourke need to consult a good CGIist. smile.gif They're just poster people for steriods and plastic surgery gone bad!

Just human nature, I suppose.

Didn't they do some of that with 300?

This should be the best comedy of 2014!

It funny when the remake was announced with Momoa, everyone wanted old Arnold to play "King Conan" not another remake, so where is the enthusiasm about this project?
John Milius wrote a superb script some years back for a CONAN film featuring Arnold as a King Conan and The Rock as his son. It IS a good script and I wish they'd use it.

I doubt he's going back on the juice. He's had heart conditions in the past which has required him to stop taking "supplements". That's why Stallone looks so much better, comparatively speaking:

Sly's no stranger to "suppliments". He got busted with them in Austrailia a few years back if memory serves. You don't get ripped like that at his age without them.

But a measly heart condition won't stop Ah-nold. He'll start serious training again for this role and that will include juicing, mark my words. He'll be perfectly willing to throw the dice. He's always been an inveterate gambler.

Obviously. I was trying to show the difference between what Arnold might have maintained in his age had he been able to continue using, vs where he is now as a non-user.

First of all, the pic you posted as "now" is actually several years old after his surgery. The part about his heart condition is also mis-information. He had a family history of heart problems. He had surgery to prevent future issues. Most of the old school bodybuilders are still alive and going strong. Steriods are not inherently bad, when not abused. Sly is a good example of that. He has been "using" since at least the early '80s.

As a recreational bodybuilder in my 50's, I can't see how Stalone's body could be viewed as anything but awesome. Would the typical American, out of shape, physique be preferable?

Bring on Conan! biggrin.gif

That shot of Arnold looking flat out of shape has been doctored on the net. This one is a bit different.

I don't know where the hate comes from, but all I was saying was that he's probably NOT going to be in any sort of shape where they would want him on-screen shirtless. WTF about Stallone's body? I clearly used him as an example of where Schwarzenegger *could* be, had he not stopped using. In other words, I was implying that Stallone looks great for his age.

they 'shopped them all?

Nothing against Arnie, I'm a huge fan.

Does that now make him Conan the Septuagenarian?
He was very out of shape before he filmed T3. He managed to get back into shape pretty good for his age.

He had the exact same measurements as he was before and on T2 according to him. It's on the commentary track on T3.

Didn't mean to come off as hateful, just correcting the often repeated mention of Arnold's heart surgery being caused by steroid usage. I agree that Arnold probably won't be "shirtless" in his future movies, but I'm sure his famous biceps will be on display.

I was referring to another poster's comment about Stalone being the poster boy for steroid use gone wrong. Mickey Rourke, on the other hand.........eek.gif

As a weight lifter of 20 years now (God I'm old), I can say that my measurements are probably the same as they were a decade ago. But I don't look the same.mad.gif

Believe it or not King Conan was part of the original stories by Robert E. Howard. So yeah Conan got old, wither or not the new film is any good or gets made at all is a different matter.
He still can produce something extra in his films...
Good grief Arnold should just retire. He did while he was our governator. No wonder he had to settle for the housekeeper. He was fun to look at especially with the Austrian accent,, sort of like Tony Curtis playing a Roman...

He doesn't *have* to do anything, I mean he's still famous, he's still rich, and he still looks pretty good for his age. When he was in politics he probably had to stop working out like he did before, or at least slow down quite a bit. Which explains why he could be considered "out of shape" now I guess. Getting back in shape doesn't mean looking like he's 30 anymore either. Had he not stopped for a few years he'd look like Sly, or very close to. Regarding his upcoming movies, I think he's just having fun doing what he likes.

Those pics above are rather old now. This is now:

Of course he won't be running around shirtless, but I'm sure there's still some badass in him! wink.gif

OT: another example of why Y-shaped speedo's shouldn't be used by men at the beach tongue.gifsmile.gif
