BassThatHz Theater Build - Page 24

I save an additional $300 to $1100 per year by making the switch, without lifting a finger, just by having one.
Which means, a free sound processor upgrade or projector bulb replacement each year etc etc, in savings; compared to say: using hard cash.
(But only as long as you use it correctly.)

It has arrived!

Mine isn't made out of solid gold and diamonds like this one is though. (Oh well, I tried... tongue.gif)
You could imagine how many rappers would be "blinging" this out on their chest in every music video if they were allowed to have one! LOL biggrin.gif

16 24's. Go!

Or at least 12 more LMS-U's and a truck load of wood to build 16 G-Horns.

Make it happen Mr. Gosling.

I'll be adding 10 more subwoofers and 4 more clones to my system over the next 12 months. (If everything goes as planned.)

No LMS's though, unfortunately. That will have to come afterwards... eek.gifwink.gif

With another 4 clones, that will give me ~9.1kW@8 of treble and ~51kW@4 of bass.
(that includes: 1 of my EP4k's died about 6 months ago, I have to get that repaired.)

and that's after I sell off 3kW worth of my existing "HiFi" amps and all 3 of my B&W's.

In 6 months from now I should have 16 operational subwoofers in my room. 2 21's, 8 18's and 6 15's. Then I "might" add another 4 18's in late 2014,
and MAYBE another 4 LMS's in 2015. Not sure when I'll stop.

I have to throw 2 15's and 1 18 in the trash, OEM defects and/or I blew them up (or at least, I WILL finish them off soon-enough and will make videos of their deaths, just for fun); so I'm not including those in these numbers.
I lose some & I gain some.

popalock, carp, n8dogg, japandave, beastaudio, notnyt, audiovideoholic, chop, to name a few.
All have more displacement or watts or subs (or all-the-above, in some cases) than I currently have... so if they can handle it, I can too biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

My theater is only ~11 months old, so I'm playing Ketchup on all aspects.

I can't take any more treble SPL, but Bass, that's an entirely different story...
Also note: two of those 15's will be for movie-mode ONLY; but I'm 90% music.

Right now, I'd say my system is a 7/8's NotNyt-equivalent system; and in 12 months from now I SHOULD have roughly a Full NotNyt-equivalent system.

You gonna need a larger meter/meter base/main line out there when add all the clones? Going 220 or 110?

Yep it will be the 120v versions, my current system (the AV part of it), only draws 20amps RMS, I have 200amps RMS service in the theater. If I blow the sub-panel breaker or get massive voltage drop, then I know I'm at the limits, until then it's Game-ON wink.gif

Although, the 240v version is a possibility too, dropping the load by half... I should look into it.
I'd go 220 if panel is close enough to where they will be plugged in at to make it feasible. Your panel is right there isn't it?

I'm a clone that Ryan Gosling keeps for spare body parts!
That is why I never show my face or talk in any of my youtube videos.
He keeps me locked up in this here theater; in this way, I can stay hidden for years away from the paparazzi and anti-cloning police, while pretending to have a somewhat normal life, until it is time for me to be harvested for body parts.

Let me know when you stop believing in my crazy made-up story, okay? biggrin.gif

Here is 16.7hz moving 13,000lbs of drywall.

These walls are extremely well built (I should know, I built them), I can't believe it is able to flex them. eek.gif

Dude... did you really post that you received a Visa Infinite card? I think your project is cool and all and I'm not trying to start anything but come on. "How many rappers would be "blinging" this out on their chest in every music video if they were allowed to have one"? How many AVS members bling about having a Visa Infinite card or a how much hardwood flooring an advertisement has?

Just you bro.

That's why I used and suggested the use of 10x the amount of screws along with extra nailers between studs. Also troughs placed across the ceiling joists is a major framing member to reduce flex which you probably could still implement.

Here's the "cup song" on 30,000watts. It's my new reference-track; good for testing your systems transparency.

Wow Man, totally ignored the last two responses to your "random" posts! C'MON man! You are enthusiastic about your room and should be but there is a point when your posts become more self absorbing than anything to do with science in the DIY section of a "SCIENCE" forum.

I could actually care less about how you finance your build but at the same time think that if you "want" to reveal that you are indeed financing it, that is your right to do so. But bragging about it and flashing pictures of a freakin "CREDIT CARD" seems something along the lines of Vince Youngness if you ask me. For those with lack of knowledge about what I'm talking about, he was positively slipping through the cracks of the NFL and was borderline broke but insisted his agent to get a loan (in Vince's name for $300k for a birthday party) only later to file a lawsuit against his agent for not managing his money correctly.

I'm not saying BassThathz doesn't know how to manage his money by any means because that "Infinite Card" shows that he can pay balances. But I have problems when one ignores those who invest their "time" as an AVS member to "better" the forum while being "self absorbed". It's like one minute BassThathz shows great value to the science of the forum and the next he's over the top of his forum peers. I'm not "normally" one to judge but after the past couple of posts that were completely ignored, I was personally affended by the "wow, I can get money leant to me no matter the cost and oh look, my drywall is flexing more than yours even though I didnt try to prevent it".

Seriously Man(BassThathz), come on down to the crowd. You're unlimited CC isn't worth "BLINGING" even if it were gold! That is one crazy a$$ thought for sure. I built a 1200 sqft addition on here from start to finish not including the $60k worth of audio video equipment and never once even thought about me being a "bling" type of person. There are many different classes of people on this forum that share very knowledgable information whether they can afford a set of $100 mains/subs or $10k+. Bragging will get you nowhere man, and even though you are quite knowledgable your posts in question will only make others miss out on "what" knowledge you have to share.

I mean no disrespect, only trying to open your eyes as I enjoy a "lot" of your posts. Money has no bearing in this forum and I tried to warn you about Sheetrock flex a "long" time ago and even gave you instructions on how to prevent it to some degree. I myself grew up in the construction business and trusted my long time framer with the extra nailers inside the walls' members and troughs on top of the ceiling joists. It wasnt brain surgery or CPU skills but common sense from a trusted employee.

And just so you know, I hated typing a "lot" of this but hope it makes you reflect on how you come across at times.

Much love to your enthusiasm towards our hobby and hope you can digest my post without immediately being offended.

The hardwood was installed almost a year ago now, and it was a visual example of what I might have gone with in the theater to match the main house at the time, but ended up choosing a different flooring type instead, one that is more durable for out-building purposes.
It had nothing to do with the number of planks in some ad.

I personally don't think a better version of this song than this, exists.

If that doesn't test your system's dynamic range, I don't know what would.
Where can I find a good recording of this, all I'm finding is cheap mp3s.

I just bought it and it comes with a free download so you can listen to it until the CD arrives

Thanks for reminding me of this classic!!!

It's not the same recording though.
This is a very famous piece of music. I have four different versions that are all similar but different orchestras performing. The specific one never had a BR or CD made of the performance. There are ways to take the audio and or video off of your screen while watching but it wont be as good as an actual recording of the live performance. You can always watch it from youtube or here:
http://podcast.uctv.tv/vod/11787.mp4

Just depends what quality your looking for.
I'm looking for cd quality or better but if it was never made I'm just gonna live with my 1997 OSM version.

If anyone has successfully encoded the sounds of the universe itself into a song, it is this one.

I've been listening to this song for 5 years, and it keeps drawing me back to it.

There is one other song I found on youtube a few years back that equally impressed me, but I've lost the link to it, it was another chill-out hypno whatever style, I think it had a tree in the video, I can't remember it for the life of me.
