Having a small issue and I'm not sure if it's been discussed. I was playing a Xbox game (NBA 2K13) and every 20 seconds or so there would be an ever so slight brightness change. Almost like a flicker. The screen would brighten every so slightly and then repeat 15-20 seconds later. Has anyone else noticed this or is there a setting that you would suggest?

Thank you.

I had irritating flicker in dim-to-bright and bright-to-dim transitions on my 2010 C-series for a year and a half before I tried a picture configuration that changed my white balance. I haven't seen a single flicker since. Try a config that switches up your white balance.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a try.

Well my firmware dilemma is finally over, tech came out and replaced the whole main board which of course has FW 1018.1. TV back on the wall finally smile.gif

On a side note, I did put some football on and I definitely don't see the motion blur issues I saw with our first TV, which was on FW 1012.3. I'm not sure if that TV was version TS02 though.

That is wonderful news! Now, hopefully Samsung puts the latest firmware on their support site.

Newbie here. Just got this one from Amazon.few questions.
1. I was told delivery guys will also setup the TV and make sure no issues - also implies if there are any issues I find later, they would be considered new issues than issues at delivery. Can you tell me what all I need to get checked when they deliver it.
2. Is it true that one shouldn't caliberate when the TV new. If true, what is the reason behind it.

Thanks. Appreciate any newbie tips on how to get the best out of the TV and how to maintain it well.

Thanks.

Delivery guy delivered the tv , put it on stand and made sure screen shows up. Now I have 30 days to report any problems, at first look everything looks fine.

I have more newbie question, embarrassed to ask smile.gif
1. What exactly you guys mean when you say blacks are good. I know RGB make up all colors but not sure what is special about black color and how do I verify?
2. Also what is white balance?
Thanks.

Anyone experiencing the auto-muting or auto-dimming of whites on an all white picture? I assume this is to protect the TV. Can you turn this off? How?

That is ABL(auto brightness limiter) is shortcoming of plasma technology the last few years, there is nothing you can do about it really

Just got this at BB. Yesterday

Their decently knowledgeable TV salesman helped augment my decent knowledge of TVs enough to pacify my plasma concerns. I've had 2 samsung LCD Monitors and 1 LCD TV (LNT4665F-mid tier 2008 model) so im pretty confident in the brand. What warranty did yall had? BB in house warranty? squaretrade?

I got them to pricematch down to $880 and I had $20 in reward certificates so out the door was $951 in Texas. I think I got a solid deal (most places are selling for $1k) although it appears it was less at some points in the past.

I am on FW 1018.1 FWIW

is it just me or is the buzz louder on different inputs?

I just got this TV and I'm unsure if it supports ARC on its HDMI imputs?
I have had this TV since Oct. They had it as an open. Box at Bb for $649 so I scooped with a 2 yr warranty. Mfg in Aug. When I got it home and hooked it up, all the whites showed up pink. BB(geek squad) came out a week later and replaced everything but the bezel. TV has worked great since. Til recently, now im starting to notice a pinkish haze in mostly white scenes. Has anyone had this issue. Its has been disc calibrated through a ps3.
My firmware is t-mx9fausc-1014.1
On mine when the screen is mostly or all white there is a bit of pinkish haze but it's only slight. If you can pause on all white screen turn down color to zero, then turn red gain down until red haze isn't so red.then turn red bias up about the same amount as you turned red gain down.if the darker parts have too much red then turn bias down until it's not obviously red.

Edit turn red bias up about half of what you turned red gain down.

Does anybody know if the newer model pn60f5300 stand will work onthe 60ef530, pretty much the same except the one is 2012 and 2013.

I hate my stand on the 60e530, way too wobbly!

Anyone else get in on the killer deal Dell had? 997.99 with a 500 dollar gift card. After buying three gift cards with 150 dollars in promos (100.00 of which you could apply immediately and bring the price of the TV down around 960 shipped) With their Advantage program giving another 50.00 after shipping, To sum it up, I got the TV for 964.00 shipped with 600.00 in promo giftcards to use in 20 days. Pretty awesome.

Some of the reports of buzzing and other oddities with this set scare me, but I'm hoping I get a good set (with updated firmware!)

I did. I was glad to get in on it, and did so similar to you (gift cards, etc.).

Thanks to Optimus for the calibration settings.

I downloaded some burn-in slides. I am still unclear if I do the slides for 100-150 hours prior to setting the set to Optimus's settings. If yes to that question, what settings should the t.v. be at for the slides? The out-of-the-box settings? Thanks for any info!

Awesome to hear! Hope we both get the best panels! (Which one is the Samsung panel, if they made any panels for this size and model?) And I echo Graycf's questions since this is the first time I've ever owned a plasma and I want to break it in right.

If you go to your ""Support" menu option, and tab down to Contact Samsung," press page down on the remote and it will give you the firmware version.

Wow, I guess I need to get firmware upgrade mine is only 1011.1

Btw, is there a Better stand for this plasma? Factory stand is wobbly!

I am wondering if the newer F5300 stand will work, looks the same other than the stand looks better??

Ideas?? Other than mounting, I can't do because of a large pass thru window frown.gif

Just talked to Samsung. They are denying anything about a newer firmware other than 1012.3. They're are sending me a free usb flash drive with it on it. Mine plasma came with 1011.1. Even though others have posted having 1017.1 or 1018.1.

P.s. if any nody wants to know, they advised me if I used website for warranty they would give me an additional 3 months vs sending in warranty card! smile.gif

Crazy. I can't believe they won't put the latest firmware file on their support site. That is absolutely ridiculous. Glad they are sending you an update. Too bad it isn't the latest version.
