Hi,
This is my first attempt to build an HTPC. I am planning to use the Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI board, with Intel Core i3 processor, 8 GB DDR3-1333 HZ RAM. This board has AC97 Codec with HD AUdio. For being able to play decent audio, I am looking to use Yamaha NS8900 SPeakers with Yamaha Sub. Since the budget is on the tigher side, I was hoping to eliminate the need to connect an amp, and connect the speakers directly to the HTPC. Is this doable? I would like to ask the experts here of their opinion. I am not looking at audiophile quality sound. But I would want my setup to do justice to the speakers. If I absolutely must have an AMP or Receiver or whatever that is called, I would either DIY or use a budget option. I would appreciate, if someone can point in the right direction or to the appropriate forum/thread. Thanks in advance.
Ajay.
