Audio/Video out of synch - need help

Hi all,

I just installed a new LED TV last night. I wired the video from my Comcast HD DVR box to the input on the TV via HDMI....I then ran a digital audio cable from the Comcast DVR to my Yamaha receiver (my receiver does not do full 1080p, so I don't want to run everything through there). When I watch TV, the video on the screen and the audio is a bit out of synch. Is there something I can do to fix this? I was so excited to get this TV and be able to run the audio through my receiver/floor-standing speakers....but now it doesn't seem to work. The delay is long enough that it is distracting. Any ideas?

Unless the receiver has a built-in delay feature (not likely), the next thing to try is to disable video processing on the TV side to see if you can get it close enough. If the TV has a "game mode", try that. Any "motion flow" or other processing should be turned off by that mode.

If that doesn't work, there were some external digital delay boxes - these used to be available, don't know if they're still around or not. As this issue became more widespread, the delay features were added to the AVR, and of course with later HDMI specifications to account for processing delay.

Most likely path to fix, if adjusting the TV doesn't work, will be to upgrade your AVR, unfortunately. But if your Yamaha is old enough to not process 1080p, you'd get a lot of other features like Internet streaming and IP/app control for your money, too...
