Monitor 70 Series 2's are

You can read a lot of Polk bashing on the web, but for the price (and the excellent sale prices newegg.com has occasionally) they are quite nice speakers.

I have a secondary setup with a pair of Polk Monitor 70's and a CS2 center and it performs quite well. The room is large with a 12' ceiling, yet the sound is full, the speakers are not stressed a bit with the volume levels I use to fill the room, and I'm a happy camper for the amount of money I have invested in these speakers.

You would need to have a much larger budget to hear a truly noticeable difference from much more expensive speakers. When you have that budget available, you will have something to compare against - because every speaker system will sound different due to specific room acoustics - price is not always the only benchmark.

So, one recommendation for the Monitor 70's and the CS2 center - excellent for the price but also quite nice regardless of price.

Yes, I second that!!! The M70's and CS2 are an excellent trio. I've owned them myself and was quite pleased with "value" I obtained with these speakers. And, I found that the more power you feed the M70's, the better they sound, so, rock on.

What is everyones thoughts on the Polk Audio Monitor 65T? These appear to be sold exclusively on Newegg and are on sale for 199 each and coming with a free PSW10 subwoofer.

Are these speakers worth it? How do they compare to the klipsch RF-52 II?

The 65Ts are essentially the monitor 60's with a slightly redesigned enclosure (which are essentially the TSI400's). I am not sure if there is any significant sonic differences with the redesign between the TSI400/monitor 60 and monitor 65T's. I can say that the monitor 60's are the least expensive of the 3 and there is likely little sonic difference between them therefor the monitor 60 is likely the best value.


I have only heard the TSI's and the monitors and not the new monitors. To me there is no difference that i could detect sonically between the series ii monitors and TSI's.

Are they really much different than the Monitor 60? They cost more but if they sound the same why not get the Monitor 60 for less?

I doubt anyone has heard the new 65T yet since they're only sold at Newegg so probably pretty difficult to compare to the Klipsch RF-52 II.

I'm not a Klipsch fan so I wouldn't buy them anyway. Horn tweeter doesn't work for me. Too bright.

monitor 60 owner here... they are good bang for your buck speakers. i got mine for $200 a pair and they are great all around performers. i listen to movies loud and they seem to keep up. bass response without a sub is just ok though. i also have mine mated to a cs2. no complaints from me!

The Polk Monitor series is about as good as you can get for the price. That is almost HTIB price and the speakers are NOT HTIB quality!

My Monitor 70's and CS2 were delivered this morning. UPS (oops!) delivered them to the wrong address two doors down. Long way to carry for an old man.

It's amazing how good these things sound for $300 a pair. If anybody wants good sound on the cheap grab em next time they are on sale.

Sorry to dredge up and high-jack an old thread. I am trying to learn more about the new Monitor 65T and 75T but there isn't much out there about it.

I'm curious why the 60 is a 2 Way design and the 65T is now 3 Way. The 70 is 3 Way and now the 75T is 4 Way. Each of the series keeps the same number of drivers and similar exterior design though. Wouldn't there be a difference in sound if the 60 was redesigned to be 3 Way? Would it match the old 70 better?

Any thoughts or insight on that?

I'd definitely like to read a side by side comparison to see if the 65T and the 70 are more comparable than the 75T and the 70 or if the 75T is actually superior in some way.

Well you won't be seeing me doing it. I'm way to busy doing nothing. It's an obligation I can't ignore.

I just need another boring night at work and i'll do it....got a production shut down in a few weeks, so maybe i can get to it then.
