Emergency buying advice needed!

My friend just dropped his tv and is heading out in the car half cocked to buy whatever the guy at best buy recommends. I'm trying to convince him to do some research and buy online but he isn't listening. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive ($600 or less I'd better) flat panel, 46 to 50 inch? Most important is picture quality, doesn't care about 3D, already has audio, streaming, etc. off angle viewing is somewhat important as well.

Help me obi wan kenobe, you are my only hope!

Well I couldn't stop him in time. He got a TCL le55fhdf3300z. It's a 55 inch LCD TV, only $700. I don't know anything about it, I haven't even heard of TCL, but it does sound like a good price and he thought it looked good in the store, FWIW. He got it home and one of the mounting screw holes was stripped, so he had to exchang it.

Anyone know anything about this TV? I can't find any reviews on it.

Most of the reviews on Amazon are fairly positive for it. The most important review is his though. If he likes it, that's all that really matters.

Yikes!

I would have recommended either of the Best Buy house brand Insignia 55 inchers over that.

TCL is the owner of RCA right? Seems about on par with insignia if you ask me.

Being that this topic is 2 months old, it's possible his friend is happy with his TCL.
