You don't want to be naked in the same room as an orbit shifter. Permanent damage could result, along with a voice change...
While having met Vik, I can attest he is very handsome, but still have trouble with the "naked war dance" and I WOULD not want to see it. Yes J_P_A my minds eye has suffered a sudden vision loss as well!

HAHAHA!

After a marathon work session today my work here is done. There is still some work for Vik and the misses such as painting, picking out a carpet, seating and a projector but the heavy construction work is done.

Some pictures:

Wall of sound, linacoustic on the Orbit shifter.

This setup is not for those who don't like it loud.

At this point I was thinking we may need a bigger room as we had it put the fabric on the screen frame with the screen oriented lengthwise.

Up on the wall

Another rear shot

Wow unreal, be a special place for years to come. Great work BIG and Vik. Safe travels home and enjoy your holidays!

Vik, get back to work! smile.gif

Hi Big,

I was looking at your work for possible suggestions on my project. I loved what you did on that door... BRILLIANT!! I've never played with a door before and kept thinking anything I bought would be the weak link for that wall. Two layers of MDF with Green Glue.... serious stuff. What do you think the STC is on that? Is it a tight fit? What did you do over the gaps? Do you need that special lock to fit through that thick door? Any other tips for the door?

On a side note, I love the blue lights. I have yet to read the whole thread but I'm hoping you showed what you used and where you put it. Great results. Too bad your not located out here in Hawaii... there's been more than once I would have loved to get an expert to come up with some suggestions for my build. Sorry for all of the questions but I just found the answer to my problem (what to do for a door). Again, great results. Take care. Matt

Hmmmmm...I don't know what's more depressing....the fact that this build thread is mostly over or the fact that it took BIG, Vik and his family, plus a handful of Forum members six weeks of virtually non-stop work to get the theater to this point. It just doesn't bode well for my own deadline. *sigh*

Anyhow, I see Vik also used my patented screen size calculation formula:
  1. Measure the width of your wall
  2. Deduct 8 inches to account for the width of the screen frame itself on both sides
  3. Add 56.4"
  4. Divide by one
  5. Deduct 56.4"
  6. Order the screen biggrin.gif

Seriously though, nice work!! Can't wait to see how fast the rest gets done! I know I would be chomping at the bit if my theater was at that stage but still non-functional....

Congrats BIG for another job well-done!

Awesome! Simply awesome! Big again it was great to meet you and your work is outstanding and your knowledge unparalleled for sure.

Vik, glad I could lend a helping hand and when you need me just give me a call. I would love the opportunity to help you get all the equipment in, up, connected, and a test run or three done.

You have a fantastic space for sure and I am glad that you have finally released Big so he can go home. I was wondering just how long he would last in captivity. Lol

Vik, awesome awesome place! Especially when looking back to the first page of the before photo!

Couple questions tho, curve screen? Are you planning to use the A-lens? And as for those acoustic panel on the ceiling, is it just going to be hanging like that, or you'll somehow dress it up down the road?

Congratulations gang - this has been the highlight of my morning coffee break. Don't worry, even with Big recuperating at home, I will be a regular booster club member.
Big; have a safe trip, and thanks to all for sharing these progress photos.

Vik; you have to be elated and chomping at the bit for a PJ test run.
Also; you are lucky, in addition to Big's expertise >> you also have a local certified carpet counselor to help and your family with carpet selection .....!!

Thanks again guys. TMcG thanks for your tip regarding the linacoustic on the Sub. Since your theater construction is starting after mine is done, all the patented techniques you claim are yours seem to me are coming by the way of inspiration from my theater biggrin.gif Its okay i don't mind biggrin.gif Seriously though I am super excited and waiting for you to begin construction cant wait to see how awesome its going to be!

RT I will call you soon. Land shark , the ceiling panels give a lot of definition to the room and look very nice if you are physically present in the room. The pictures don't do justice and make them look like pieces hanging but in fact they blend very well with the ceiling and rest of the room. I do have plans for a night sky mural some time in the future since the panels and ceiling disappear in dim light or with lights off.

Vik thanks for the opportunity to work on your unique theater. Can't wait to see the finishing touches you and the misses will put on the space.

Here are the highlights of my trip home:

Cheap gas and food.

I had to go back and look through the entire thread again. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures end to end.

So Big, where to next? Now that the Fall Frenzy is over, what will the Winter Wingding be? (Sorry, that was the best I could come up with).
