Does this model allow you to update through the ethernet port on the TV? When I try it say no update available, the current version is the 3.02.

You need to do the latest update using a USB drive and downloading it onto there from LGs website. Read the directions they have posted there. The file needs to be put in a folder and named a certain way. Don't remember what it was suppose to be named by it tells you in the PDF document.

Thanks for the settings. Looks great. I have a few questions if you don't mind me asking.

What setting do you have the color, keep it on 70?

Also, for some reason the Real Cinema is grayed out for me and it's off.

Thanks in advance!
Yes i keep the color at 70. You right i apologize real cinema is grayed out, i still haven't figured out which setting disables "real cinema."

Just got the 55 inch version from Costco. Was interested in a 47 inch version...but saw this at Costco for 699 so pulled the trigger...& have everything up and running by late Sunday...so havent got much time to play around...but I must say...the 2D picture looks fantastic. Also made a quick 2D to 3D conversion test...& was impressed.

Will try your setting bav325i. Thanks for posting it.

I have a question about running sound out to a receiver from this TV (actually the 55LM4600), I have an XBOX 360 (The old white style) connected to this TV via HDMI. I used an optical cable to run sound to my receiver.

However, the receiver (a pioneer VSX-D411, if you care) does not recognize the source as DTS or Dolby Digital. I get sound, and the source is digital, but those icons do not activate. I know I've checked the games and they all say DTS, Dolby, etc. Can this be tweaked or is it impossible to get these signals using the TV as a passthrough?

BTW, I'm not sure if this is related to the previous discussion about ARC support. From what I've gathered ARC is a feature of HDMI, not optical out.
From what I've read this tv and all tvs now(my samsung eh6030 as well) don't decode 5.1 audio from an hdmi. I have to use an optical directly from Xbox to reciever. However the white one doesn't have an optical unless u use the component cables. The LGLM4600 only decodes 5.1 through USB and coax

I returned my 55LM4600 today back to costco after having it for 2 weeks, just could not get the color the way i wanted it, didnt look as good as my 3 year old sony lcd. In its place, i got a panasonic 55ET5 lcd 3D passive set. Instantly out of the box i noticed the color difference. the 3D is really good too. got this one for 899 from best buy as they matched frys price, since frys was not very helpful in showing it to me, o well, their loss!

Just want to say I cannot believe how well the 2D-3D conversion works. Raise the depth to 20 and while things do not really pop out of the screen, there is so much depth within the picture. Totally shocked how well this works.
I just bought the 47LM4700 the depth control is greyed out, is that dependent upon the movie or is that only adjustable on the 4600?

I believe on these models, the LM4600, 4700 and my LM5850, the depth control is only available when doing a 2D to 3D conversion. I personally don't find this a problem.

What I do find annoying, however, at least on my set, is the settings menu being unavailable when playing a 3D movie. It appears to be impossible to make setting changes on the fly. I find the screen too bright most times. Adjusting the backlight to zero, even before the movie starts, does not appear to affect the default setting. The TV automatically defaults to the standard setting when 3D is selected. Changes made to the contrast and brightness controls, adjusted prior to starting the movie, can be seen; unfortunately not the backlight setting. Is your LM4700 the same?

That's kinda lame... I might just live with it for the foreseeable future. I haven't bothered to set up my rear surround speakers since I last moved. It looks like SIMPLINK could accomplish what I'm after here, but I doubt any of my other components are compliant...

chatted w/ someone at LG today re: the TruMotion issue. They said they've gotten plenty of complaints (I don't mind a little soap opera effect, especially for sports), and that the new firmware should have options to let users adjust the setting, which as many have noted here, is set at a very low level when the TV ships. so...no idea when the next update is coming, but in theory, it should help fix this issue (which may not be an issue for plenty of people, who may just prefer to put TruMotion off). I said this should constitute product fraud if it's not remedied, and they didn't disagree. It's a problem to list an item as 120Hz with TruMotion technology when you actually can't utilize that technology because of the software on the TV.

How do you get to the service menu on these tvs?

First I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the wealth of exceptionally useful information contained in this thread. I sincerely appreciate the time posters have invested to share their insights, experiences and recommendations about this TV

After reading most of this thread, as well as reviews from a variety of other sources (amazingly few negative reviews anywhere), I just pulled the plug on this TV from Newegg through eBay for $505 shipped! This is for a new - not returned, not refurbished - TV with the full original warranty and Newegg's good name behind the sale. Not quite as good as the Black Friday deal previously mentioned, but I didn't have to stand in line for several hours either, which, if you're an independent consultant who bills by the hour, can be a significant factor.

This will replace a 6 year-old 32" Vizio 720P LCD TV in our bedroom (has worked flawlessly after a warrantied system board replacement shortly after purchase), which was fine in my wif'e's old house, but shrank significantly when we moved into our present home where the TV sits on top of an armoire about 15 feet away from our viewing position in bed.

I look forward to getting this next week and actually being able to see the TV again, rather than an overweight postage stamp.

Thanks again for the great information here.

Hello everyone! I just purchased the 55LM4600 "Open Box" for $595 + tax from Best Buy 2 days ago. What a steal! I also added a 4 year warranty through Squaretrade for only $69 more. Man this set is amazing compared to my old Mitsubishi 52" LCD Diamond Series. The passive 3D is really stunning. The 2D picture is also really impressive.

I was hoping you guys could help me with something. The Best Buy gave me the wrong remote and it doesn't work with this TV. When I went back to exchange the remote for the correct one they had given that remote to another customer also by accident. So long story short, I have no remote. Without a remote I cannot activate 3D from my OnDemand cable provider since I don't have a 3D button. Anyway, I'm looking for the right remote to purchase off of eBay or somewhere online. Could one of you please check your remote and let me know what the model number is? That would help me a lot in my search for a replacement.

Thank you! biggrin.gif:D:D
