So, Ive got a 5.2 setup that consists of Polk RTi10 front l/r, Polk CS10 center, Polk FXi A6 for side surrounds, 2 Hsu 12" subs (VTF3 Mk2 and VTF2 Mk3).
First, run full auto MCACC on all 7 speakers, adjusting sub gains until MCACC marks subwoofer output at 0. Receiver inevitably sets fronts to large.
Manually change fronts to small, set MCACC to keep speaker settings, and run MCACC again.
Turn subs off.
Using a Radio Shack SPL meter from the main listening position, adjust volume using test tones, each speaker one at a time, until each reads 80db. (This results in about a +4-+6 reading in MCACC readings)
Gain match the subs (put each sub, one at a time, in the center of the room, put SPL meter on a stool 12" away from it, play test tone, and adjust gain until meter reads 85db(I like my subs a bit hot)).
Done.
Did I do this right? I cant Im disappointed in the sound at all. But, you dont know what you dont know, right? Im just wondering if there are glaring issues in the way I set this up?
Thanks everyone
Below is a pic from the back of my listening area so you can get an idea of the room.
