Receiver Ventilation

I am looking at purchasing a new receiver.

It would be in an open area of my TV Stand (no front or back) but would only have about .5" or so of clearance on the top.

Is this doable or will I run into real problems?

Problems. You should have at least 3"-4" clearance minimum ideally, or at the very least use external PC fans to draw the warm air from the top of the AVR.

Try a lap top cool pad.
