Very good price on a very good TV.

Model Panasonic VIERA TC-P50U50 50-Inch 1080p Full HD Plasma TV is $599 on Amazon and $549.77 + Tax at Sam's Club. Best Buy would not price match.

Wut? No Smart TV, no 3D? Different set.

The 50U50/54 is the very basic 1080p model without the 3D or smart TV, but a very good budget choice at $549-$599. Basically the same panel. You can always add the smart TV with a Roku or Bluray player.

I have the P55UT50 and I love it. I am considering buying another panasonic in a similar line. Perhaps just the P50U50 since I don't need 2 smart 3D tv's. Look like they are popping up at $600 or less.

I helped my parents pick out a tv while visiting them for Thanksgiving, they did not want a Plasma. They seemed to like the brightness of their LED, but it could not handle motiion in sports like the plasmas can. And the screens looked cloudy on the LEDs no matter how I calibrated it when compared to the plasmas. Luckily they can't tell, ignorance is bliss. They both have poor eyesite so I guess it works for them, I'll stick with plasmas for now.

Panasonic TC-50PU54 at costco 499.99 2 year warranty. If you have American express executive it adds another year warranty. I bought this deal day before turkey day in store.

Heard Sam's has the same deal but if you have business card its 4 year warranty.
