5.1 and i'm happy :)

Will,

i posted this under speaker section couple of day's ago,

just to post my progress. I'm rewatching some of my favorite movies again but this time in surround setup instead of 3.1.

I just gotta say "wow"! i guess i was missing a lot from the movies, but man now only if i can save up more to buy some matching hsu hb 1's then i'll be set to go.

I have a quick question for you full setup geeks :)..

If you have side surrounds with 5'12 inch woofers, and 6 " woofers up front should i just leave the surrounds to small? what are your takes to that? or i wouldn't hear any different in bass response.?

The surrounds i got are sony ssb 1000 rated (80-50 hz). Right now i have my sub set to off for built in cross over and switch to LFE, and receiver crossed at 80 hz. It seems to blend in pretty good.

The way that the size of the woofers in the SSB-1000s was rendered threw me for a loop, but a little searching shows that you meant 5 1/2"

From a quality audio viewpoint those are small speakers!

I realize that we live in the days of 2 1/2" mains and 6 1/2" subwoofers, but for quality sound in a typical listening room, that is mostly smoke, mirrors and Bose. ;-)

You should have all of your speakers set to small and crossed to the sub.

The fronts are OK at 80Hz; if you can set individual crossovers you may want to try the rears at 100Hz and see what you like best.
