The problem thus far with most LED projectors has been the optical lens. Most are not as sharp as the UHP lamp DLP projectors.
The other problem is they don't put out nearly as much lumens, generally not near enough for 3D usage.
If you are not rainbow sensitive, then I would look at a refurbished Mits hc3800 or hc4000, or a new Benq w1070 (when it comes out). If rainbow sensitive slightly, try an Optoma hd33 (probably out of your budget, but has 3D and 1080p), or stick to the Pro8200 as the Pro8200 has the lowest amount of rainbows for any DLP under $1200 so far (only the Optoma hd33 matches it or slightly beats it as far as lower RBE for under $1500, but the Optoma costs about double).
Another 1080p unit (although no 3D) is the Acer h6500, that one was on sale the other day for just over $500, and you might find one cheap.
If you want 3D and gaming, but want to spend less than the above and don't mind 720p, look at the Optoma gt750 or Benq w710 (or w710st). 1080p is still superior even with a 720p source due to a higher pixel fill and a generally sharper image, although the difference isn't huge unless viewing native 1080p content (in this case the difference depends how close you sit to the screen).
