Widows itself should be fine (you shouldn't get any bluescreens or boot failures or anything like that) after a CPU swap. WGA is another matter. OEM versions are usually more prone to flagging hardware changes than retail versions (at least that was true with XP, not sure positive about newer versions) but regardless, if your Windows is indeed legit, it shouldn't be any issue to reactivate. At the very worst it won't activate online and you'll have to call Microsoft, which has always been a painless experience for me.

If you get this error, it means you chose not to start the FlexRAID service after install. Navigate to \ext and run the UserMode.cmd file.

i mentioned that i ran that file. usermode. i got it whipped now though, had to hard shell run the cmd.

Hey you took my advice except with the office cpu smile.gif

I'd swap the g860 into the office and see what happens. I think it will boot without issue, but let your office PC be the Guinea and back important stuff up of course. I'd be surprised but I'm not100% sure it'll work. If it doesn't then just put it back in the server and don't mess the server up wink.gif (again)

On top of what others have said, it also depends on how silent you want your pc to be.

Lol I got a bucket of them.

Literally!

I cleaned my basement and organized my wires and they filled a trash barrel over the top. Lol!

I never use HDMI on the PC those cables are pure evil. Worst crappy invention mankind ever came up with. The hdpc copyright sync and 16-235 issues are just pure pain.
DVI for the win! I use display port on my second monitor and mini display port to DVI on my third.

Plus, I stopped buying 6 feet cables. Seems like I need ether 10feet or 3 feet lol.

/end rant

But,

If you need one that's a good find. Thanks for the share biggrin.gif

i'd like to see you use dvi (no converter) into an avr ... wink.gif

Lol I have high end treadmill and elliptical machine in same room as my workstation now that I lost my first floor office to the babies room. Perhaps that will get me motivated... Lol.

Diet is more my problem but some exercise won't hurt. It's the 1st of year so I guess it's time for change.
i'm trying to find videos that i can put on the tv in front of the treadmill that is like a scenic drive or run, to simulate being outside. no luck so far.

That's good idea. I also have small LCD mounted above the treadmill.
they have videos but they seem odd. the interactive one seems more "normal".
i could see myself trying to jook a head-on collision and falling off the damn treadmill, to be honest.

Toss "Zombies Run" on your phone and have at it, lol.

The secret to weight loss is diet --- not exercise --- despite the crap that society tries to stress.

Ever watched how many calories you burn on the treadmill? Its a depressing low amount based on the time spent. Much easier to just eat less.

Yup. You are right! and.. I know all this. I was heavy into fitness in my late 20's and early 30's. Gym, lift hard maximize test levels, low carbs, protien, more smaller meals... eat good fats,..etc... Nothing has as much results as a great diet. But to get good results you really need to embrace it all. The problem is that it is a lifestyle and a 27/7 challenge that I just don't want anymore. I did it, and I cared if I had abs when I was single and young but my priorities have changed. I'd like to get to a reasonable 13% BFI - and be healthy. But I want to enjoy eating, and life in general at the same time. That makes it all harder.

If I can burn an extra 350 calories a day on the treadmill, and eat a few hundred less everyday I can otherwise keep my lifestyle the same and get back into better shape. Holidays killed me.

It is a combination of both. Reducing your caloric intake will cause you to lose weight but you will still remain unhealthy. To be healthy, you must exercise in addition to having a proper diet. PORTION SIZES are the key in the US. The average meal at a restaurant is 2 to 3 portions large. A good tip I found once was to immediately ask for a box and split your meal in half - take the other half home, do not eat it there. You get to eat twice for the same money (cutting your expenses in half) and also reduce your portion sizes. Win-Win.

For sure. I wasn't saying don't exercise. I was just pointing out that diet is the key to actually losing weight. My opinion of course.

It's not opinion. This is supported by science many times. I've read plenty of case studies proving it in fitness magazines and online.

I like being a fat boy. I like over eating or eating it all. tongue.gif hence my problem... eek.gif

Studies actually show lower caloric intake leads to longer life expectancy... but even that does not seem to help much.

Should I be looking closer at FlexRAID? What is needed to get started? Just buy the SW or do I also need to buy WHS? I just need 1 extra drive for parity (I saw it needs to match largest in pool)?

I am enjoying my new HTPC and now can see that Bluray will consume more HD Space than original plans. I either need to keep most of my BD's on the shelf w/o a copy on HTPC or change the scale of my storage system.

Current: Mid-Tower w/500w power. 4 internal HDD bays + empty space for 5.25 drives (just have a BD drive). I'm currently running 3 data drives internal w/3 external BU drives. I want to have a backup of my music library which has taken a long time to rip and tag.

Internal:
2 x 3TB
1x 2TB

External:
1 x 3TB
2 x 2TB

OS SDD

From a data protection perspective what does this provide? A parity drive to rebuild 1 lost drive?
