Help selecting a new Sony LCD TV?

My current Sony KDL-52W4100 TV has developed more than 20 horizontal lines about 6 inches long. I feel certain that the panel is failing and it is time for a replacement. I have been reviewing the current Sony line-up trying to decide which model is right for me.

I believe that I will choose from among the following three panels:

$1199 Sony 55ex640 - 55 inch 120 hz

$1499 Sony 60ex645 - 60 inch 120 hz

$1499 Sony 55hx750 - 55 inch 240 hz

I want at least a 55" because I am used to my current 52" and I don't want to go down in size for certain. The larger 60" 60ex645 is somewhat appealing, so long as the picture quality is equal to the 55" models. Does anyone think the 60 is enough of an advantage to spend $300 more for over the 55" ex640?

I'm not particularly interested in 3D, but wonder if the higher 240 hz of the hx750 is would be a noticable advantage.

Given the equal price, which would be the more desireable between the 60" 60ex645 and the supposed step up in technology 55" hx750?

Thanks,

I can share my recent experience...

I bought a Sony 55ex640 - 55 inch 120 hz a few weeks ago (did not have any 60ex645's in stock at the time). I was happy with the set (all good except minor flashlight in one corner), except for the size. I was coming from a 65" RPTV and just could not handle losing a full 10" diagonally.

I exchanged the 55ex640 for a 60ex645, and was very glad I did. The jump between those sizes is quite significant IMO

My only real complaint in the 60" size is "dark corners" (which I started a thread on today), otherwise they seem to be good units for the price.

So that's two votes for the 60". Any other thoughts?

Anyone ordered a large tv from Amazon before? How did it go?

Hi,
I purchased a 46" Sony from Amazon without any issues. They subcontract delivery to a local 3rd party freight company in your area and I'm pretty sure most online companies will do the same. I'm about to also upgrade the 46" to the KDL 60EX645. Best of luck.
