Yes, the show was cancelled back in November, which allowed production to alter the final episode(s) to wrap things up.
I really liked this show - it's strange - I let it accumulate on the DVR in case it was cancelled. Without knowing it had already been cancelled, I starting watching over the holidays. I got hooked and couldn't tear myself away.
Frankly, I think that TV producers/networks should do more of this. There are many good shows that don't pull the ratings and get cancelled. Many should go in with the "one and done" approach - it gets aired, fans get closure, and everybody wins (except possibly the network who can't sell ads!). There are shows on now that are well past their prime (no pun intended).
