Magnovox 320GB HDD - MDR 533H/F7 Can the harddrive be replaced?

I have a Magnovox 320GB HDD - MDR 533H/F7, which I had for over a year. But now I am getting a constant rining sound from the hard drive, and I think it is going to fail soon. Does anyone one know if one can replace the hard drive without taking it back to Magnovox? Should it be formated to a specific operating system? If anyone knows please let me know.

First off, you can't have a 533 "for over a year" since the first one was only sold on Sep 5 2012! You probably mean a 513?

I don't know what a "rining" sound is, but, yes, you can replace the HDD, as described in this help file (one of many on page 1, click 1st link in my sig.).

Your noise could also be the fan, which can be replaced as well. You can test this by pressing on the top of the DVDR case in various places and see if the sound changes. Press also on the fan. cage.

Sorry, I did make two typo's, I meant to type "ringing" sound or a kind of humming sound. and the second is that it is a 513 not a 533. I will try what you have suggested. Thank you very much.
