I enjoy following certain threads here on AVS and elsewhere about television shows. Justified is a show I keep hearing mentioned, and it is officially on my "need to try it" list. I am also curious about HBO's Enlightened and have recorded the recent second season and can on-demand the first..
Also interested in Downton Abbey. Sort of waiting for a friend to loan us her DVDs, but she has loaned them out to someone else.
Would also like to try The Killing.

It was such a short set of 30-minute eps to watch, I went through them one weekend recently. I liked it enough to probably seek out the upcoming second season as it airs.

I haven't seen GOT or the last two season of Dexter, so I can't say if they are better or worse than The Americans. I will say that as much as I like POI I think this show is better.
I tried The Following for 2-3 eps, but I found it too absurd in places to sustain my interest. The bumbling law enforcement and seemingly endless and convenient supply of "followers" was quite a stretch. It's on the list because my wife still keeps watching it, albeit with a low priority. She tends to enjoy the Criminal Minds/Law & Order/CSI "crimey" genre more than I do, so I guess that's why she still watches.
I never thought I'd go for GoT, but with all the buzz I figured I had to try it. We binged on those 20 episodes fairly recently. Loved it! And my wife has just finished four of the books in the last three weeks, so she is very much up to speed for viewing the third season starting this Sunday.
I haven't kept up with Person of Interest, but my wife has.
Out of all the shows I mentioned, Dexter and Breaking Bad are absolutely my favorite shows currently in production (though sadly about to end).

I like the period feel of The Americans. I was in sixth grade when Reagan was shot, so it's fun to see that time frame presented to me as an adult. Plenty of things to look back and make fun of, but it still looks better than the 70s.
I would take Homeland over The Americans, though.
After many years with no premium channels, we were at the mercy of shows like Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, The Wire, and Dexter becoming available on DVD months after initially airing. In October, we decided to take a spin with a full DirecTV lineup, and that led to catching up on shows like Dexter and Homeland right away via on-demand rather than waiting for discs, and then "suffering" from week to week as new shows were airing. At the moment, we don't use Netflix, so that complicates my interest in trying Justified.
We tried Boardwalk Empire, but just couldn't get into it. Same with Shameless.
Lots of good programming out there, and more and more my favorites tend not to be on broadcast networks.Edited by ToddR - 3/29/13 at 8:20am
