I have setup my Yamaha rx-V1800 with 7.1 hooked up. I popped in a movie that has 7.1, the Avengers and everything worked, all speakers as they should. The symbol on the receiver showed all the front, sides, and rear lit up meaning they were powered.
I then popped in Transformers the first one which is only 5.1, but one of my favorites and I got now sound out of the back rears. On the receiver, the back rears were also not lit up. I thought the receiver would automatically convert sound into those speakers if they were hooked up or am I wrong? Will they always be off the majority of the time? Is there a way to turn them on?
