Epson 8100 Replacement Bulb?

I need to replace the bulb on my Epson 8100 (Model #V11H336120) projector and it seems that everywhere I look there are a lot of bait and switch tactics being employed. Where is the most reliable and economical place to purchase an OEM Epson ELPLP49 bulb?

I just so happen to be researching for a replacement bulb as well. So far, projectorpeople looks to have the best price for an OEM lamp.

I checked PP and they're about $25 higher than the cheapest I could find an OEM ELPLP49. However, I would be willing to pay a little more if a retailer offered a better warranty.

No issues for me
My 4 year old Epson is on it's third bulb and I'm 100% satisfied with PLS.

My 1080UB came with a spare,
so the 3rd lamp that I just installed recently was my first from PLS.
Just under 400 hours so far.

The lamp I received from them was not 100 % identical to my original, (Very close though)
But neither was the spare I got from Epson. The PLS lamp did match the spare though.
My original and my spare both lasted 3k hours.

You can find a negative post or two on almost any product,
But you should really look beyond One persons experience.

IF the projector is still under warranty, you might be able to get a free bulb from Epson according to http://www.projectorcentral.com/projector_news.cfm?2010-10-20-Epsons-Remarkable-Lamp-Guarantee&entry_id=354

Unfortunately, it is not, but thanks for the post.

Is it me or does everyone have a problem with paying for something that's rated at 4,000 hours but doesn't come with a warranty to match? I mean, why not rate it for 10,000 hours. Seems silly to have an hourly rating, but a time based warranty, especially when paying this much for a bulb.

I emailed Projector Lamp Source and asked them if the part was OEM. Here is their response:

This is an OEM Bulb with a Third party built housing; the housing is not an OEM.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Although they may have good reviews I'd rather have an ALL Epson lamp. smile.gif

On the other hand, here is the response I received from B & H:

Thank you for contacting the E-Mail Sales Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

This is an Epson OEM lamp and comes with a 30 day warranty.

Okay, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this. Any other recommendations on an OEM replacement bulb source? What about replacing just the bulb and not the housing?
