Unfortunately price gauging is the main stay for telcos... and don't even talk about roaming charges..

Just pray for Google to drop by with their 1Gbps line..

BTW: How much do Sony charge per movie download? If you have to pay bandwidth plus a lot per 4k movie, it's just not worth it...

The cost for TV episodes is $3.99, while feature films start at $7.99 for a 24-hour rental, or $29.99 for a purchase.

Be Careful to read there fair use policy to. Some say unlimited but once you reach a certain amount they cap your speed.

Not too bad for movies then.

As for TV shows, Netflix would do... tongue.gif

What's the conclusion between the two? I'm sure the 1000ES is better but how far behind was the 500ES?

I will write a full report about the show in the next days. The VW1000 has a better Optic but the VW500 is really not far away. The brightness was the same.

Hi Kraine,

I'd be interested to know what the fan noise was like with the VW500 and how this compared to the VW1000.

Thanks
John

How could he even hear an individual projector's fans in that room and its multiple projectors lined up in a row? Besides the issue of other ambient noise, all the other projectors would have to be shut off in order to evaluate the pleasing whir from one.

How was the difference in contrast?

Visually it's the same.

That's reassuring!

Was on the fence between the vpl500 and b-stock vpl1000. Glad I went with the former and saving a bit.

It may not measure the same, but once you get up in the 100,000 range, even jumping to a million is only a very small improvement to ones eyes. Black is always going to look gray with our present chip and illumination technologies.

The old adage, those who snooze, loose. I am sure Mike will do the best he can for you.

Did you disable going 'full screen' on those youtube videos? It's hard to watch on such a tiny space... when i click on 'full screen' it doesn't pop out...

Kraine. Thanks for the great dinner and those clubs. Really enjoyed it.

Re your article, you need to fix a few things. Its Darbee (short for Darbeevision) and not Darbbe and the unit is the DVP5000 not DVP500. Second its Da-lite, not Day Light, and the reference material was HD Pro 1.3. Supplying these technical corrections is the least I could do in exchange for the airport pickup and return and that great four star Michelin dinner. I didn't think you had the pull to get us VIP treatment in those clubs. I was wrong. Kudos.

Thanks for the corrections Mark but some of them are wrong wink.gif The name of the screens is really daylight and not dalite wink.gif
post #447 of 482
So its a different company and materials than from the US based Da-lite (Da-lite is hyphenated)?

Thanks kraine.

I guess that's what a lot of us were sort of expecting from a report comparing the two: that it would be pretty close with the VW1000 getting the edge with optics at least, if not contrast as well.
