Philips 47PFL4007 or Samsung 46EH5000

I am looking to buy a new HDTV that I will only use for gaming (xbox and pc) , bluray movies and nothing else. I don't care whatsoever about sound quality because I will plug the TV through a Bang und Olufsen sound system. I only care about picture quality and design. From a design standpoint I prefer the Philips 4000 series, but I did not find a single comprehensive review regarding picture quality, input lag, motion blur. I know that the Samsung's picture quality is top notch for its price range. One more thing that is worth noting is that the Samsung is 100 euros (140 dollars) cheaper in my country than the Philips.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
edit: I searched some more online and realized the Sony 46EX650 is the same price as the Philips 47PFL4007. Anyone has any experiences with the bravia? I am reading some reviews atm and it seems to be underperforming in picture quality compared to the Samsung 46EH5000.

review for 42PFL4007. i was thinking about getting one too or even the 3D version ,PFL4307 for wich really isn't any review available

I bought the Philips 47PFL4007 and I am not sure I made the right call. My main gripe is backlight bleeding. It is present in the lower left and upper right corner and it can be very distracting while watching a movie with an aspect ratio that leaves screen real estate unused. I updated the firmware to the latest using the built-in software updater to no avail. I am very surprised since I didn't have any backlight bleeding problems on my 2 LCDs I previously owned (an LG and a Samsung). One other minor gripe I have with this model is the menu interface. It is unintuitive and just works very slow indeed.
I am currently thinking about returning the product due to backlight bleeding, but it could prove to be a real hassle because explaining technical problems to romanians who work in electronics store is like explaining quantum physics to a dog.

unfortunately LED tvs are more prone tu backlight bleeding than LCD. that's my main fear also. if they have a return policy ...they shouldn't really care why you wanna return it. can you do me a favor while you still have it? post some pics with the bleeding ex. a movie 16:9 (with black stripes) by night time. also if you have a notebook to test the input lag in PC mode. thanks in advance.

in my opinion there is too much bleeding, even for a LED tv. i've been reading that larger models tend to have higher bleed, maybe you can try the 42" version (wich you saw on that polish review and looked like it had no bleed problems).
do you have a laptop or a PC and time to make a input lag test on PC MODE?

GOD! Then my bleeding is indeed minimal. I got used to it. Local dimming helps a lot. Only when there is something really bright in the middle of the screen for example and the rest of it is black, the clouding is most visible.

I would love to do an input lag test but I don't have a camera with a high enough shutter speed (just my blackberry phone), which, I believe, it is required.

mmm maybe give it a try with your bb or if you can get a better camera from somebody. would be great to know the PC results.

I'm not sure how to interpret this test. What's for sure is that the input lag is lower on the philips than on my laptop (which is also a LED).
PS: Do you happen to know if the contrast ratio of the Philips 4000 series was ever tested by someone?

so , by what i can see there it seems to vary between 30-50 ms. not bad i would say. question: did you also rename the hdmi output on wich the laptop was connected as PC?
as for the contrast, check that polish review, not sure there any actual numbers there, but there is something about the contrast.

I encountered another issue. My laptop was connected via HDMI 1 to the TV and PC mode was enabled, but I could not rename it to computer through the "Add your devices" interface from the menu (I could not select HDMI 1 and rename it, only the other HDMIs). So I connected my laptop through HDMI 3 and successfully renamed it to "Computer". Now, here is the problem: PC mode is now grayed out for HDMI 3. What does this mean? Does this mean that it is actually enabled because I renamed my device as "Computer"? Is there any way I can test it?

not sure, never had a philips tv. only thing i can see that when PC mode is enabled, some image adjustments ex: sharpness, colour, tint are grayed out.

not sure why you'd think a Phillips brand TV would be a better choice than Samsung one

also the Samsung EH series is full-array and has no backlight bleeding
